The food was good and the drinks were great. The ambience and experience is what your paying for. Beautiful special date night location. Be prepared to pay for it though, super expensive.

Incredible place!!!! Atmosphere is perfect! And don't get me wrong , the food was stellar!! My strip was a bit over. Service was kind and attentive, but felt alittle out of the way. Definitely need your pocketbook!!$$ dined alone w/ tip over 300$. But already plan to go back. Thanks.

Enjoyed the service and food. Server was outstanding with suggestions and really on top of everything. Steaks were cooked to temperature. The special onion rings went nicely with steaks. The fish special was amazing. .

I have known about Byrd & Baldwin for years and decided to celebrate my 33rd Wedding Anniversary with them. The restaurant and service were more than I expected. I am sorry that I cannot remember our Waiters name but he was great. We celebrated there on Oct 4, 2025. From the time we arrived with valet parking to entering the establishment was nothing but classy. I had the Rack of Lamb and wife had the Port Chop. The cocktails and wine were great! I would go back just for the great cocktails. If you have a special event or occasion I would highly recommend this establishment. You know the saying "You Get What You Pay For" It was well worth it. I will definitely be a return customer. Thanks

We dined downstairs in the bar area. It is one of my favorite places in downtown Norfolk. The ambience is great. There is a bar atmosphere with elegant dining. The food was amazing and the  SOMMELIER was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Haven't been there in many years but will get back quickly.

We always try to eat at Byrd and Baldwin when we are traveling through Norfolk. This, will likely be our last visit. First the positives: Our food tasted very good. My wife had the Mahi special while I had the Ribeye, with a side of sauteed spinach. Now, for the negatives...I asked the server prior to ordering is the Ribeye was Prime or Choice. There was no hesitation when she said Prime. When I got it, it wasn't overly tough, but it certainly wasn't Prime...I know the difference because I always purchase Prime Ribeyes at home. Outside of that, the other major disappointment was the pricing. My wife's Mahi special cost $60, and it wasn't huge. A mahi dinner in an upscale restaurant will usually run in the mid $40s. And my Belvedere Martini which had to be ordered as a double just to fill the regular martini glass came in at $39. I normally pay anywhere from 12 to $20 in a fine dining establishment. I have no problem going to a nice restaurant and dropping $200 to $250 for a dinner for the two of us. But this time I just felt a little taken advantage of. I'm sorry to say that because we have always enjoyed this restaurant but I think it's time to try another spot.

The ambience was very nice and quiet. The service from the valet to the server was outstanding. The presentation and food was amazing, highly recommended.

Service was impeccable with excellent suggestions for wine pairings, and smartly dressed. The food was amazing, the best crab dishes we've had anywhere. Do yourself a favor and dress business attire, you look like a slob when you show up in shorts or a polo.

It was a wonderful and very delicious experience. The waiter was amazing and very informative regarding the specials and other amenities. He was present when he needed to be and was gone to allow a private conversation. He brought bread, replaced silverware, cleared dishes and refilled glasses, all without being asked. He is a treasure, but I can't remember his name. The only situation that was a little bothersome was going up and downstairs with a cane. Overall this was an exquisite place to dine. Oh, and the food was well seasoned and very delicious! Got to go back!

My friend and I had a wonderful experience at B&B for her birthday. The service was excellent (thank you Frank!) and each bite was better than the last. It is an Indulgence financially, but so worth it. Exquisite meal!

Worst Fine Dining Experience. I chose Byrd and Baldwin Bros. Steakhouse to celebrate my birthday, expecting one of the best restaurants in Norfolk. Instead, it turned out to be the most disappointing fine dining experience I've ever had. Our server Elizabeth was excellent, and the food itself was good overall. The ribeye was solid (9/10), my duck two ways was flavorful but lacked sufficient sauce and sweetness 8/10), and my wife's crab cake was pure lump crab and well-prepared (8/10). The real letdown was the tuna tartare, which tasted no better than something you'd find in a poke bowl, plain, uninspired, and far from what you expect at this level. The real problem, however, was the setting. We were placed in the basement where the bar is located, and the atmosphere was loud, chaotic, and full of distractions. Between the bar noise, the creaking from upstairs, and the casual vibe, it felt more like a sports bar than a fine dining celebration. I understand the dress code policy when my son was asked to remove his hat, but placing us in that environment completely undermined the idea of making a birthday feel special. Yes, a free dessert was offered, but that does not make up for a ruined birthday. When you pay fine dining prices, you expect not just good food but an experience that matches the reputation. This failed on every level. If I had known this is what we would get, I would have chosen Saltine instead.

Excellent food with probably the best-trained staff and service in the area. A great venue for a relaxing upscale dinner.

Excellent food, the ribeye and sirloin have the best flavor ive had, period. Ruths chris and alberdeen barn can hold a candle to them for ambiance, flavor, or service. Weve come back twice now for special occasions and will return again when we return to town. High class, dining experience

Our server, Mary Beth was excellent and very attentive and knowledgeable. Her recommendations were perfect. There food was excellent as usual
