Nice, upscale restaurant with a 1930's-40's speakeasy feel. Some of the bartenders wore period clothing, and the dark wood and high ceiling gave it an authentic feel. Our server was great (props to Cam) as was the food. My gf and I both had the steak au poivre filet and they were cooked perfectly. (Hers was a bit charred on on side but she enjoyed it so no complaints there.) We were celebrating an anniversary and the waiter brought us a complimentary dessert choice....
This was our first time at Gershwin's. We have been wanting to come here for some time. Even though our review isn't the greatest, we would certainly return and give it another try. We arrived at our scheduled reservation at 5:30pm and our server Cam knew we were seeing a show at 7:30pm. One would assume 2 hours for 2 people would be plenty of time for dinner. All around AWESOMENESS!!!

Its themed to be reminiscent of a 1920s or 30s piano bar and this spot ABSOLUTELY nails it with the decor, the signage and the atmosphere!!! The service is fantastic and similar to the high class standards of the time, and the food is AMAZING!!!! Definitely a MUST for anyone who visits downtown Norfolk, it is located right next to the Roper Theatre on Granby Street (very appropriately) in the heart of downtown Norfolk and is walkable...
