I have never felt more uncomfortable in my life. My sister and I were so excited to go to IKEA for the day and eat some food and get some new plants and walk around. We spend some hours in the store after our meal and come up to self checkout with a $250 purchase. I personally dislike self checkout - but they didn’t have any regular registers open. We wheel our way to the next open register and start scanning. There is immediately an older woman who comes over and stands next to our cart watching our every single move. At one point I looked over my shoulder and she seemed to be less than three feet from me. She then LEANS on the cart. We ring up our stuff and get selected for some random check. I scanned everything, so it wasn’t a big deal until the woman scans EVERY single item in my cart. It took forever! Finally she finished and I go to pay cash. She explains the self checkout doesn’t take cash. I look up and explain they literally have not one employee working a register - so she had to suspend my transaction and take it over to another register. It was time consuming and seemed very….just off. Is it because I have tattoos? Young? I’m not sure but as a local business owner in the community it felt very…not community friendly. :(

Ikea convert right here! After having a few well-used Ikea furniture pieces in our home for 4+ years now, I can testify that they deserve 5 stars across the board!Norfolk's Ikea is conveniently located near the airport, one turn off I-64. They have plentiful covered and flat-lot parking, specialty trailer parking, online order pickup spaces and spots to charge an electric vehicle. The entire store is clean, well-lit and organized. I will say with the amount of stuff they fit into their space, it is very easy to get lost inside. However, they have ample hanging signage and there seemed to be plenty of staff milling around that will point you in the right direction. The staff that we chatted with during our visit were friendly and helpful. We have been several times, but this was the first time going with our little one. Ikea is AWESOME for kids! At the entrance, there is a play space where you can check children in to get some wiggles out for an hour while you shop. Now, an hour is not nearly long enough for a trip to Ikea unless you know exactly what you're looking for and are not prone to getting off track. They even have a cool scavenger hunt for kids to shop alongside you while engaging in their own activity. On this trip, we were looking for storage ideas and inspiration. The pieces we've had for a while have stood up to plenty of wear and we love the prices and ability to customize many of their pieces. I love that they have sample rooms to experience and get some ideas and additional segmented spaces for certain needs like office furniture, kitchens, storage, kids spaces. The prices for the quality of furniture are awesome. Ikea seems to be very eco-conscious, building pieces with that in mind. We didn't purchase any furniture on this visit, but got some great ideas and some odds and ends on sale while we browsed. This was my first experience dining in as well. There was a short line around 12:30 on Sunday and it moved relatively quickly. The little one and I loved the meatballs (sans gravy) while hubby enjoyed salmon. The food was fresh and tasty and we ended up grabbing a bag of frozen balls to take home. They had some really neat foodie items to snag downstairs behind the registers, which is where you'll find some of the items they serve in the cafe upstairs.Overall, a great experience. I look forward to finding some more treasures for our home!

Ahh the land of Swedish meatballs and flat-pack dreams. My recent visit presented a contrasting experience. While the food court ambiance was pleasantly uncrowded, the lady manning the counter seemed as thrilled to see me as a rainy day in June. Her grumpy demeanor cast a slight shadow over my initial excitement, but thankfully, the food quickly chased it away. The chicken and rice plate? Oh, that was a symphony of savory goodness! Tender, juicy chicken nestled on a bed of fluffy rice, all bathed in a rich, flavorful sauce. It was comfort food perfection, a delightful bite amidst the furniture aisles. In terms of cleanliness and organization, Ikea Norfolk gets a big thumbs up. Everything was spick-and-span, and navigating the labyrinthine showroom felt surprisingly smooth. However, my joy hit a snag when I started browsing for specific furniture items. The dreaded "backordered" label lurked around every corner, casting a pall over my hopes of immediate home improvement. It seems this is a recurring theme at this Ikea, a frustrating barrier between desire and acquisition.Ultimately, Ikea Norfolk remains a mixed bag. The food court, despite the grumpy server, provides a welcome oasis of deliciousness. The clean and organized environment makes shopping a breeze (when items are actually in stock). However, the frequent backorders leave a bittersweet taste in my shopper's mouth.Overall, Ikea Norfolk offers a decent Swedish experience, but the inventory blues drag it down a bit. It's still worth a visit, just be prepared for the possibility of leaving empty-handed (unless you crave some seriously good chicken and rice, in which case, go forth and conquer!).I hope this review helps fellow Ikea adventurers navigate the joys and frustrations of Norfolk's furniture haven!

Great customer service! Made a return today and the experience was top notch! Cannot say enough on the good experience, the customer service rep was able to explain the policy and made the whole process painless.

Waited over 30 minutes for a pickup order. My order was so small it was able to fit through the driver seat (59 in Christmas tree and two tiny boxes of star lights). Was definitely a bummer having to wait so long especially when I signed up for a time slot online for that particular time. Hopefully next time is better!

I’m primarily disappointed in the cleanliness of the self serve areas of the restaurant. At 12 Noon on Monday, the beverage area and the milk/ half and half dispenser were filthy. There were napkins and paper goods that had fallen behind the silverware dispensers and littering the floor. Isn’t anybody cleaning and tidying up? It was disgusting! I can’t imagine it is already so messy after only two hours on a Monday when the store is quiet. This area should be spotless at store opening time. And it seems every time I try to eat here, half of the food is unavailable. 5 minute wait for salmon. 10 minute wait for plant meatballs. Completely out of today’s vegetables already at Noon, so had to settle for corn succotash.More than once have I visited at 10:30 / 11:00 am on Saturday and breakfast was no longer being served.I don’t know if these problems are only happening here at the Norfolk store, or are chainwide, but they need to be addressed.

It's IKEA what else can you really say? Good value for the furniture. Just be aware if you try to take the furniture apart to move and put back together it will not be the same. We have a bed, table, and desk that are super unstable just for this reason. Lots of good stuff though.

IKEA used to be the pinnacle of affordable, quality, and stylish furniture store. While this place does look big, it is misleading. The furniture is a little overpriced and the quality that you would expect the that price is lacking. However, it still is stylish and does pique the interest when looking for new ideas for decorating. Worth checking out if you're in need for inspiration, but shop elsewhere for the quality and price. The US stores are cheap, but the European ones are in a whole other ballgame. The food here was completely overpriced and lacking. Nothing like their European cousins where it would be the hangout spot for the locals. The salmon entree was okay, yet the salmon wasn't the bet part of the dish - the potato cake was. The crusted cod was disappointing. However, the strong coffee and good (albeit) pricey chocolate cake made the meal better.

Worse ikea I’ve ever been to!!! Food is dry, and burnt. They don’t even serve breakfast. The people have an attitude like you’re bothering them when they serve you. I was wondering why on a Sunday morning the restaurant was empty. I know I will never come back to this IKEA. There is cheaper furniture places with higher quality.

OK for first timers eating the very few Swedish dishes at IKEA. Very limited menu which doesn't change very much. Perhaps because the IKEA I go to doesn't get much traffic?

Everyone went shopping but me - bad leg. I stayed in a waiting are for several hours. Very comfortable couches and chairs. Found the snack area (not the full blown restaurant). Mostly self service and paying. Ok for quickie eats. Food was inexpensive and tasty with some quality specialties (Drinks and Swedish chocolate bars!). Good way to kill some time.

I love IKEA and we have many IKEA products in our home. They used to have a nice breakfast but came in today, the eggs had a hard crust on them, no waffles or pancakes, no yogurt, the coffee hadn't been started. The chillers were not stocked. They were clearly not ready and in absolutely no hurry to get there. I don't believe I would ever try this particular IKEA restaurant again. Nothing looked fresh, looked like it had all been sitting under the warmer unattended fora while. At least someone is checking the temps on the food.

Very disappointed during this visit. I asked for a glass to pour the paid for water into and was denied unless I wanted to be charged for a fountain drink. When I explained that it was for a disabled customer, I was told that they could not go against store policy. This is despite the fact that the fountain drinks were out of order and there was no way we could have tried to take a soda without paying. This store needs some training if they can’t make reasonable requests to help their disabled customers.

I stopped by for lunch. The cafeteria had alot of seating available and no one was in line. The food is served where there is an al'a carte section with salads, desserts, and etc. Then the main dish and sides are served by someone. You take your tray to the register to check out. The food that was out look a little misty blue!! It had dried out and looked like it was sitting for a while. So i just decided to try the meatballs and the mac n cheese. I also got a side salad which looked fresh and good. There were a few options for dessert. I got the chocolate cake, hazelnut cake, strawberry cake, and apple bar... I enjoyed the hazelnut cake, but the others just were not good. The chocolate cake was like eating a lil debbie snack. Maybe it would've tasted better warm. The apple bar was dry and had no real flavor. The strawberry cake tasted ok, but was soggy. I will say the prices were pretty reasonable for the desserts. I did like that. The meatballs weren't as good as i wanted them to be...There wasn't much flavor. I do like the cranberry sauce it came with. The salad was good. I enjoyed the dressing that it came with. It was like a sweet vinaigrette. Yum. I'd certainly get the salad again. It was a small portion though. The mac n cheese was just not likeable. It was awkwardly dry and flavorless. I'm a mac n cheese lover and this let me down. Maybe this just wasn't the best day. I spent $21 and just wasn't happy with the meal... I do like that the items you eat in the cafeteria are available in their Swedish store downstairs. I got Swedish pancakes, hazelnut cake, and potato cakes. I probably won't eat in the cafeteria again. But i will try their fast food spot downstairs that has pretzels, hot dogs, and etc. Check them out!!
