Long time vistor, first time reviewer. Ilo is a must go and dine. We went a couple of weeks ago and had a top notch meal. The service was incredible and the food was to die for. The head chef there is a wizard in the kitchen who crafts the most decadent meals. The salmon was best salmon I've ever had and my wife's gnocchi was right up there. If you're ever in Norfolk go there and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Our first time was spotty: female bartender refused to even acknowledge us in a pretty empty dining room and we were the only people who were walking in later in the evening, while the waiter didn’t appear for what seemed like a decade. He finally appeared, seated us (we actually did have a reservation and arrived on time) and made some heavily over-promising recommendations. We've been here twice now, and both times have been exemplary. A quaint dining room at the edge of Freemason, this American bistro will charm you. The menu is focused and the dishes both exciting and delicious. Come with a second couple and share a bottle of wine like we did. Fill out an establishment-provided postcard - they will mail it to your next guests to keep this gem of Norfolk in your rotation! 10/10
