Great ambiance and atmosphere. The jerk was ok but I was kind of disappointed. It was more hot sauce and red pepper tasting than traditional jerk. It also seemed to not be smoked at all which threw me all the way off.

I’ve been going to them for a couple of years and the food was always good but since they have changed everything on the menu the food is not the same. The Mac and cheese is overcooked and almost mushy and that was one of my favorite items on the menu. Respectfully this is no longer island they are clearly under new management or something I miss the food the way it use to be.

They were nice but the food wasn't. I'm sorry. 3 stars only for them being sweet people. So, just off how nice they were, i should've known this wasn't a Jamaican spot. The jerk sauce, is not jerk sauce... it kinda tastes like ketchup or tomato paste and not very good. It was beautifully decorated indoors though. And the music! The music was top tier. I would not recommend the chicken, empanada or anything jerk.

Love the fact they have vegan/vegetarian options. My faves is the coco bread/fish sandwich/ the stew chicken/chickpea curry/ also the collards greens are w/o meat and taste wonderful.
I wish I would have read the reviews before ordering. I got jerk with yellow rice and cabbage. This is actually some sort of spicy bbq sauce and yellow rice. Not jerk at all. 2 plates for 30 something dollars. I’m assuming this isn’t a Jamaican restaurant. Must be some other type of Caribbean to use sweet sauce as jerk

I spent 30$ on two small plates of jerk chicken that didn’t even come out to be jerk chicken. The chicken was chopped up with barbecue sauce no jerk sauce absolutely none. No bone in the chicken at all what kind of island food is that?! Never again with them completely disappointed. If they didn’t want to take anymore orders they could’ve just said that and not give out straps literally.

I did not like the fact that these ripe plantains were burned and the food is full of salt and that chicken is not jerk chicken.
Simple the best Jamaican food I have ever had! So good, I went back every night for dinner takeout while visiting. When I go back to Virginia to visit family from upstate NY, I look forward to going there and eating their amazing food! The red velvet cake hands down made my eyes roll. Never had it so flavorful in my life! Trust me, you need their soothing soul food in your life!

This is not real Caribbean food and was not good at all. The jerk chicken tasted like smoked bbq chicken. The cabbage tasted like it had sugar in it. The Mac and cheese tasted like it came out of a box. Will not be returning to this place. We paid too much for it to be this bad.

The fish sandwich is absolutely incredible! I mean, truly outstanding! It features fried fish tucked inside a coco bread with a side of seasoned fries and mango habanero sauce, and it's genuinely one of a kind in Norfolk.
