I love this place, the servers help one another so you don't just have your waiter but a couple other and the Manager even helps just to make sure everyone and everything is running smoothly. The food is great from the tacos to the fajitas to the drinks. I can say enough about Jose's

The culinary experience was unsatisfactory, as the food lacked seasoning, the tea was unsweetened, and the quesadilla was prepared without cheese or seasoning. The overall experience was notably poor. While a previous visit yielded a positive outcome, this instance did not meet expectations.

My wife & I were in Norfolk to babysit our grandson while our daughter went to visit a friend in Vermont. We had driven in from South Carolina that afternoon, and our daughter needed to eat before she went to the airport to catch her evening flight. We were excited when our daughter suggested Jose Tequila for dinner, as I had mentioned to my wife on our drive to Norfolk that I had a taste for Mexican food.
Let me cut to the chase – Jose Tequila’s did not disappoint! My wife (and our daughter) had chimichangas, and there was so much food on their plates that my wife took one of her chimichangas back to our daughter’s house for a meal over the weekend. Our daughter, because of her trip, did not have the luxury of leftovers.
I ordered two quesadillas based on the portion size that most Mexican restaurants serve, and like my wife, I only had room for one of my quesadillas; the other one I enjoyed as a most welcome leftover several nights later.
Again, the food was delicious, but what really made the meal special was our server, Juan. Juan teased our 3 ½ year old grandson about paying the check at the end of the meal, but since our grandson didn’t make a withdrawal from his piggy bank before we went out to dinner, Granddaddy covered him just this ONE time.
With the check paid, we thought this was the end of our pleasant dining experience at Jose Tequila, but Juan had one more surprise for us – without prompting, he brought our grandson a cone of ice cream for his dessert; what an unexpected and thoughtful treat!
Finally, I am sure our grandson would have written this review himself, but granddaddy covered him just this ONE time . . .

The restaurant is clean, extremely well decorated, and service is spectacular. Unfortunately, the food is truly lackluster. If you're looking for more authentic Mexican or tex mex, prepared well, this place is not it. I ordered the mondo combo which is a beef taco, a beef enchilada, a chili relleno, and beef tamale, served with black beans and rice. What arrived was unseasoned, flavorless, plain ground beef stuffed in everything, white unseasoned rice, a cup of bland, unseasoned, canned black beans, the tiniest strip of what should have been a Chile relleno, but was more of a single soggy strip of pepper absolutely buried in thick cheese, a beef enchilada stuffed with the same unseasoned ground beef (nothing else), and a half way decent beef tamale, unfortunately drowning in cheese. The main items were all buried under a thick layer of gloppy cheese, no enchilada sauce, filled with the blandest ground beef. The chips they served with their half-way okay salsa, were stale and yes, bland. You'll pay $16-$25 for your dinner plate of cheese coated blandness, but the service and atmosphere will be great. We loved our server, she was so attentive and friendly. We tipped her well. But we won't be visiting this location again. I hope someone at this restaurant reads this and addresses the kitchen. This could be an incredible restaurant, but they need someone cooking the food who can do better.

Authentic mexican joint. Amazing food, super friendly staff, great atmosphere. Margaritas are mixed strong, so prepare for that if you order one. Highly recommend!

So to start off i usually eat alot of mexican food from alot of different spots, but let me tell you this spot by far was the worst spot ive been to in my life. I ordered a taco salad beef bowl, and the beef was not thoroughly cooked. My fiancée had gotten bria tacos, and the onions on the tacos tasted like pickled onions out of a can. Not to mention the noise level. You would think a spot that has tequila in the name would have a certain age demographic as their customers. Servers were so excellent that I couldnt complain they made the whole experience bearable. Before you go verify if they have the safecert certification for cooking. I only saw one cert the whole time i was there. Maybe i shouldve tried the tequila, but if I cant get past the food im not gonna bother. Beware this place, and if you want to try it be sure not to order the TACO SALAD and BRIA TACOS.
