My husband and I got married at the downtown Norfolk courthouse and made reservations at Saltine afterward. When we were seated, we were greeted with congratulations and a glass of champagne! Our server, Noah, was extraordinary and kind. The food was unbelievable as well! We had the most amazing dinner with my new brother and sister-in-law. We will definitely return to Saltine again!
Kyle was our server and was great. I really enjoyed his knowledge of the menu. We had decided we just wanted some soup and salad as we really were not starving but just a quick bite to eat. Surprised when our bill for two soups and salad with two crabcakes and water came to $94. Rather pricey for the size of the crabcake we received. Be cautious adding the appetizer crabcake to your salad instead of the add on. Not sure if it was rung in incorrectly but it was quite the sticker shock. Overall food great, service great. Restaurant could offer valet parking.
I overall enjoyed the service but the quality of the food was not up to the standards of the price. Waitresses was nice but I had to ask quite a few times to have our tables wiped in which I ended up additionally myself. The slop of beans and sausages at the top of my seafood tower mixed with the muscles was overly salty and not a good combination with the muscles and did not pair well. - tasted like some sloppy poorly maid cajun mix. Please don't mix that with a raw and cooked seafood .. yuck! My son's burger was dried out with no lettuce, tomato, or anything. - just bread and cheese! And my sea bass was slightly overcooked with a weird sauce on top of the skin. Wasn't impressed at all. For a restaurant of this caliber, which is supposed to be the best in town, they should just lower their prices at this point, because it was not anywhere near the level as what it should be! JMHO!
Been to Saltines a few times. Seafood is wonderful. James at the raw bar has got to be the king of oysters. He was great to start the night with a dozen and a half oysters. Afterwards, once everyone arrived Val was great with the full meal. Whole Fried Snapper for one, Broiled Rockfish for the other. Seriously good time. Thank you to James and Val
Service was good, albeit on the slow side. Overcooked eggs and undercooked chicken, resulted in an extended wait for two in our party, so the other two had finished eating by the time the corrected orders were brought out. The server was conscientious and apologetic but offered no compensation.
Wonderful service, the food was amazing. This restaurant was very accommodating. They made our anniversary very special. I love everything about Saltine. I can't wait to go again . The best restaurant hands down!
Overall good. Oysters were delicious. Steak was nice and tender. Service was nice but a little slow.
Service was outstanding. Food portions were generous. While being adjacent to the bar leads to some noise, it wasn't at all bothersome - if you want to dine in some hushed place you wouldn't necessarily chose Saltine - but if you enjoy hearing others enjoying a night out as you yourself enjoy yourself then you'll like Saltines. The lighting with the small individual table lamp allows one to have an intimate dining experience. My wife and I will be back - we enjoyed the experience
Food was amazing. Service was top notch, and the cocktails were Devine. Overall a great experience and spot for a date night.
Great waiter! Nice personality! Food was served hot for 5 people. The red snapper was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh and crispy.

It was a lovely experience. Parking was very convenient. ALL the staff was kind and helpful and their customer service was over the top! Food was well made and presented. Flavor of food very satisfying. Ambiance was very romantic, beautiful, and comfortable. Perfect portions. Quite a relaxing and pampering experience.
The service was not good. We had to ask for service more than once. The she crab soup was cold. It appeared the restaurant overbooked. Very noisy. Not classy. Not in the slightest
Great place on Christmas Day, can be very busy so you need to be patient. Oysters are high quality.
