“We stayed there this weekend for our anniversary. We enjoyed our stay for the most part. Unfortunately it was cold & blustery which made it hard to be outside for to long. They are currently having their Christmas village with other out activities. The amount of money we paid for the weekend was overpriced for what we got. The food as it was good, again it was overpriced. If you happen to stay in the lodge, make sure you take stuff to keep you entertained, as many rooms don’t have a tv & if you want a hot shower, the morning was a better choice, as we had Luke warm water at night to shower. You’re paying the higher price, simply because the movie had SOME parts filmed there. Maybe a stay in the warmer months would be better, but I would make sure it’s not in the dead of summer or make sure that the room you choose has ac!”

“A cute little diner tucked to the side of Tangent Outfitters, which is a convenient store/outfitter/gas station. It's a very popular breakfast place w locals and an idea location for nourishment following a hike at nearby Cascade Falls (2 mi up the road). Big menu to choose from. Specials each day like the roast beef open face sandwich w gravy. We ordered a Greek Feta wrap and a tuna melt. Mine was homemade tuna salad w cheddar cheese heated on a croissant. Sooo good!! The Greek Feta wrap was on a spinach wrap w cucumbers, olives, spinach, roasted red peppers, feta, and ranch dressing. Both orders came with a bag of chips & a pickle spear. Very friendly and relaxing atmosphere.”

Aleta helped us with everything for a fabulous Saturday nite Graduation dinner and then when we found out our lodging was cancelled at another discredited business - Aleta jumped into action and secured rooms for my family of 20 to have places to sleep. Mountain Lake Lodge not only saved the day but made it Magical. Any Virginia Tech families should seriously consider Mountain lake lodge as their first choice for family time.”

“I ❤️ Sugar & Flour so much and it's one of my favorite places to eat and grab something to drink in the area. The meals and bakery items are always delicious and everyone working there is so friendly and amazing! There are new specialty menu items on a regular basis so stopping in once a week you can find something that you haven't tried before and I can say I've never had anything I didn't fully enjoy. The coffees and teas are always on point with many seasonal selections available. If you're looking for something that's warm and welcoming then let this be your stop for great food and people. “My husband and I just bought in the area and thought we would try it out. I had the chicken livers as an appetizer…OMG they were the best I have ate since my Mommas 25 years ago!!!! I will be returning and often!!! We also had the cheeseburger… The bun was so fresh and the onion was the star…all had that homemade taste ! We also took the Mandarin Cake home for a late snack….it was delicious! I’m leaving her my phone number to call me the next time chicken liver is the special! Everyone was friendly and made our day! “We just moved to the area and Papa’s was recommended to us by our new neighbors. Y’all did not disappoint. The best food we’ve had since we moved here. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, and amazing food.”

“We had a appointment nearby and wanted a quick bite before heading home. I am a “pizza snob” and prefer thick crust pizza, but this thinner crust was delicious. My wife had a Margarita pizza and loved it. I had the interesting steak and chimichuri pizza and it was delicious. Our server was very obliging and friendly. We would return here!”

Parking: The parking lot is right on the property. Although there's not a lot of parking spots, it not bad at all.

“I had been hiking the A/T and arrived at the trail head just before sun set, exhausted and hungry i set up my tent and decided to see if anyone would deliver pizza. Much to my delight Pizza Plus would and did deliver. The food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner with a friendly demeanor.”

“I've been eating at this restaurant for six or seven years. The service has always been superb. Lately I've been getting two filet of fish with added lettuce, excellent choice. Sandwichs are perfect except the one bun is almost burnt.”
