I got the bison burger. It was covered in black pepper. My wife got a ceasers salad. It was literally a bushel of lettuce. Waited 2 hours for a burger and lettuce

Amazing dinner! Matt our server was great! Loved everything! Recommend the Grilled oysters and fried green tomato small plates. Shrimp and grits, trout, Rosemary Chicken and venison tenderloin were delicious. Our table overlooked the cabin and filming locations from Dirty Dancing. Loved the historic and charming feel of the buildings. Must try the Chocolate brownie and crème brûlée to finish out the night!

Can't say enough about the great food! And great service we had at our 11:30 reservation today. Awesome job ladies!

Slightly disappointed in the St Pat buffet. Several of the roasted sides were not done, could not get a fork in. The quality was just so so for the cost. Environment was really the only thing they have going. Pretty much the same as our last visit for just a sit down meal back in Jan.

Very disappointed. When we arrived there were no cars in the parking lot. We wondered if they were even open. One member of our party stepped inside and asked if they were open and they said they would be open until around 8. Odd, since they take reservations until 9. We sat down and ordered drinks which took way too long. The food took even longer. The waitress apologized for the delay because ‘there was no manager on duty and the internet went out and the kitchen didn't receive our order'....What?? We ran out of water repeatedly, and finally began refilling our own glasses. No one cleared the empty dishes from the table. We started clearing them ourselves and placed them on another nearby table. It appeared as though the 3 or 4 other tables in the restaurant had similar experiences tonight. Wow.

I absolutely love eating here but this past time, it took 50 minutes to receive our food even though there were only 3 other guests there. Other than that, the food was excellent, as always and the atmosphere is unmatched.

I was really disappointed. Knowing that the place was in Dirty Dancing, I thought there would be a higher standard of quality all across the board to encourage tourism.I went with my boyfriend for a belated Valentine’s meal. We got a cheese board, the beef stroganoff, and the wild game duo. The wild game was by far the best! The stroganoff’s beef was very overcooked. Plus, I had to cut the beef myself which I thought was weird for a pasta dish. Ground beef would’ve been better than the tough pieces that I had to cut through. The cheese board was not cohesive. There weren’t enough crackers, there wasn’t enough meat, and it seemed like most of the cheeses weren’t paired properly. Now, service: it was very slow considering that we were one of three tables in the whole restaurant (two other couples were near us). When we got our food, the server asked if my boyfriend wanted a side—he hadn’t known before that the wild game duo didn’t have a side/carb. It seemed like the employees just didn’t want to be there. They said it was their first winter ever being open. I hope they can figure things out, because I think it could be really great.

The server like dinner prior was wonderful. The food just fell short in terms of portion size and quality. The breakfast potatoes tasted like they were frozen from a bag, felt the same about the gravy. Bacon was just way over cooked. For the price the portions and the quality was just not there. The server did her best for us.

Our server was great! The young man was cheerful, smiling and attentive. Getting drinks was tough. 20 min or more to get a mixed drink from bar for our waiter. One bartender in the bar was not enough to get the drinks for both the bar and restaurant. Food was tasty but the portion size for the main dish was a bit disappointing. The dessert however was amazing!!! Coffee took about 25-30 min to get. Mixed review all around... our server saved the day for us! Breakfast was the same. Nobody to seat us and a few couples stood waiting to get checked in for reservations for breakfast when there was 75% empty tables. Food was okay. Our server was wonderful. One thing they have is friendly staff !!

This is a very cool location atop a mountain with a lake! (once upon a time). The drive to this destination is rewarding as it provides nice views and winding roads. Once up in this area, there are plenty of outdoor activities. The restaurant is located within the lodge and has a pretty good, “lodgy” feel with stone clad walls, fire places, low ambient lighting and views looking out onto the mountain. The service is of course dependent on who is working, but in my case, was above and beyond average. The food is tastily crafted and matches the atmosphere of the lodge.

Previous buffets that we had been to there the food was much better and had a bigger selection. We would really like to see just the seafood buffet come back. In this area there isn't a lot of places to get seafood that is good. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to get drinks and beer. Ended up going to the bar to get beers while we waited on the ones we ordered. It wasn't really all that busy either so I know that wasn't the issue and I would be more understanding if it had been. Honestly the best thing was the music. I would come back just to see them Really enjoyed Unpaid Professionals.

I love Mountsin Laje, and I think all of their special events are fun, and I enjoy them. I do have to be honest about the buffet. The food was not good. The food temp was barely warm, and most of the items were bland in taste. I used to love the buffet when they first started doing it, but the quality has really gone down over the past few years. I miss the cheese and fruit bar with the salmon, capers, cream cheese, and crackers amongst other features. The live music however, was awesome! I would come back to hear the group from last night, but order from the bar instead of the restaurant. For $40 a person, I would like to enjoy my food more than I did last night. Still love Mountain Lake and I will go back!

We were there for the New Year's Eve dinner on December 31. We had a reservation, as they had advertised a special pre-fix NYE menu. The atmosphere was beautiful as always, but we were very disappointed by the menu and service. There were several appetizers, salads, and mains to choose from from a set NYE menu. The food was average. The tuna appetizer was alright, but parts of it didn't seem super fresh. The fried green tomatoes were good. The oysters rockefeller were ok. The shrimp cocktail was your standard shrimp cocktail, I suppose. The winter salad was good and the best dish in my opinion. The trout stuffed with crawfish was stuffed with an overcooked mushy bland thanksgiving stuffing that had a few crawfish mixed in, served with "risotto" which was a mushy tasteless pile of overcooked regular rice (not arborio or other risotto rice). We were told all entree proteins were going to be cooked medium-rare, no exceptions. However, the trout was extremely over cooked, and one of the steaks was just seared on the outside and completely raw and bleeding inside (others were more cooked, so it seemed very inconsistent). We were not offered a wine or drink list or even a beverage list, and we assumed that perhaps they were not serving alcohol with this dinner since none of the tables near us seemed to have any beverages other than water or soft drinks. However, in other areas of the dining room there appeared to be tables with wine and cocktail glasses, so perhaps the server who had our section was disorganized or new or something. We waited about 15 minutes after being seated to have our order taken, and another 30 minutes before we got our food. We were not given a bread basket - we had to ask for one, and it came with our appetizers (after around 45 minutes after being seated). The NYE menu had baked alaska listed as the dessert, and when time came for dessert, we were told that the it's one dessert per two people, even though there was no indication of this on the menu or in the advertising. We were also not provided extra dessert plates, which would have been standard for shared dishes. Since we're a family of four, no shared plates was not a big deal to us, but imagine if we had been two different couples, or friends, or acquaintances. The "baked alaska" was some sort of very dense, factory-made white cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a smattering of.... well it's difficult to call that a meringue - it resembled bubble bath bubbles (both in appearance and texture) more than it did a meringue. Parts of this "meringue" were slightly blackened, indicating an attempt at charring. The dessert was barely edible, so it's just as well there was only one provided per two people. Perhaps they ran out of desserts and so started telling people it's supposed to be shared among two people? The dessert, both the actual dessert and the fact that it supposedly was to be shared, was truly shocking and bizarre. I wonder what they would have done if a party with an odd number of guests had come. The funniest part was when the check came. We are a family of four, and we look like any average, run-of-the-mill family of four. When the waiter came with the check he asked if we will be paying together or separately. So you force two people to eat one dessert off of the same plate, but then you ask if they're paying separately? It seems they had planned poorly for the evening, and maybe were focusing too much on their hotel guests and didn't have the bandwidth to properly treat their restaurant guests.

We came here for the NYE package! What a treat! Everyone was so nice. They were all working so hard! We enjoyed our food and beverages so much!
