Around 7:40 entered 1631. Waitress didn’t know drink specials and couldn’t recommend anything but took drink order. Came back and brought drinks. I asked if they had a GF bun yet because their FB post said possible new menu items. She said no, so I ordered a burger ON a Portobello mushroom OR I said if they couldn’t do that, lettuce. I can’t have the bun due to gluten allergies. Husband ordered same burger with everything. Our burgers arrive and 2 have buns. I look up at her saying I can’t eat this. She asks me if I could literally scrape the bun that was sticking to the burger off. I said no, I have gluten intolerance. I asked for it on a portobello, explained it again or on lettuce. She pointed to the mushrooms and said it had them. I said I know, I need no bun, and I need it on the big portobello, and I have had it here before. She says okay and takes food. She doesn’t come back with napkins, refills or silverware. Husband has food but nothing else, so I take empty drink glasses to the bar. I asked for napkins and silverware and get it from bartender. Owner is at end of bar but says nothing.I sit down and wait for a long time and husband is done with meal. No waitress. She finally comes back with a portobello mushroom between lettuce for $17. I said no, I asked for the burger, this wasn’t what I ordered. I asked for the burger without the bun on the lettuce OR the portobello, but my husband is done so I can’t wait again. Can you remove this? She goes to the bar where the owner is still sitting.The place was not crowded, the tables had emptied out, but some people are coming in at that point. I have spoken to him before and waved to him, so I go over and ask about what is going on. He immediately, and with witnesses of bar tender and another gentleman, starts yelling about that being an expensive product and I ordered wrong, so she didn’t understand. He says it was my fault and starts yelling about how he is aware they don’t have GF because it is expensive. I said I knew that, but they had done this for me before. He asks me when and says what month? Was it a F-ing year ago or when I opened? Continues to yell. Not once offers any sort of apology for any of this to me or even acts in any way like they messed up. At this point it is 8:30 or so. I say we are leaving, and I try to leave but my husband didn’t get up and didn’t come outside as the man had made it over to the table. I have to go back for him as he has car keys and at that point, he picks up again saying I didn’t know how to order that I told her wrong. I said no I didn’t I asked for it on a portobello, so he goes to my spot and digs through my lettuce and hold up the portobello going this is a F-ing portobello and waves it around the restaurant in front of a softball team, people in the corner and people at the bar plus the serving staff.As his behavior was unbefitting of a restaurant owner, I take my phone out to record his lewd behavior and I have him on video slapping my phone across the restaurant.Once again, if the excuse is that the owner wasn't himself that night, nothing up to this point makes any sense whatsoever. I had been a customer, he recognizes me, and treats me this way. Make of it what you will.

Always have a great time and enjoy the atmosphere! Mike the owner is great and the staff are always warm and helpful. The Bourbon selection is the best around! I would definitely recommend people go.

We had a great time at 1631 for Bourbon Club, which featured Ragged Branch burgers, bourbon flights, and, of course, their smoked old fashion.Bourbon club guest was the owner of Ragged Branch farm and distillery. It was especially cool to learn about the vertical integration of this farm/business, using some of the mash mix with feed and some for bourbon. Happy cows, tasty beef, great bourbon!The burgers at 1631 include tasty housemade additions like bourbon caramelized onions, garlic aioli, bacon jam, and specialty cheeses. The appetizers are great, too. Tender steak bites served with sautéed onions& bourbon mushrooms and pork belly tacos are must-haves! My biggest problem is deciding what to order. Service is always excellent, too.Highly recommend this wonderful spot for great food, specialty cocktails, and a wide selection of bourbons

My wife, daughter, and I drove to Poquoson for a meal this evening. 1631 did not disappoint. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was spot-on, and the food was both visually appealing and appetizing.Warning - do not frequent this establishment if you are looking to spend $3 for a hamburger - go to a fast food place instead. The food at 1631 is made using quality ingredients, not junk.

The burgers are delicious and they have the friendliest, attentive, and most honest staff ever! I had a Hazy IPA and the Mediterranean burger with the cucumber salad. I left my credit card overnight and didn’t realize it until late the next evening. I stopped by and they had it, no extra charges, and such sweet staff!

We are new to the area and we were very excited to try this place (walking in the place has such a cool vibe) but unfortunately this is a one and done dining experience for us. Maybe- it was the server who had zero personality. Took forever to come to the table- I understand- I've served before- but it was not that busy and the place is small. When she finally came to the table she asked what do we want to order- Um- maybe let's start of with our drink order (that should have been taken about 15 mins ago). Maybe- an appetizer. Are there any specials? The girl just did not seem to want to be there. Maybe, she truly did not care because if you come in as a party of 6 - they automatically charge you a 20% gratuity. I don't even like to write bad reviews ... but after the money we spent - I don't think dining here was worth it.

Talk about a gem, this place is amazing. Love the ambiance of it all. The beers were amazing and the burgers!…I mean the burgers were delicious, plan to go back and try every single option they have and don’t be me started on the loaded potato barrels (not pictured) we order 10 and no shame we eat them all. Next time I do plan to try the flights of bourbon!!!! Go try this place out.

I mean, we didn’t even get our meals yet? And she acted like she forgot…Eventually my husbands food finally came out first…the onion rings were cold and they didn’t even look like onion rings..they were just broken up pieces that looked like they were from the bottom of a bag. Then my tacos come out five mins later…cold. So I wait another 10 mins for a remake because she noticed I didn’t touch them. No apology or anything…The cucumber salad mostly tasted like vinegar…The server was just so forgetful in every aspect. She would come over and check in and ask the same questions or forget what we ordered…makes it seem like she forgot to enter in our order each time. She just kept making excuses for why things weren’t coming out on time. As a server myself, the service was horrid.Definitely won’t be back after spending $127 on low quality everything…She did nothing to even try to make our experience better….Not sure how this place has a 4.6 rating after witnessing the service like that.The drinks seem to be the only good thing from this place.

Great place in Poquoson! Burgers are delicious. Sauces are all homemade. I haven't tried a bourbon cocktail yet, but I watched a drink being made while waiting for lunch and regretted not getting one! I will most certainly try one when we return. The owner was there today and he was down to earth and friendly. The atmosphere is great. I definitely recommend checking it out!!!

Just love this restaurant. We were told how good the food was so we tried it out. WOW...we've been there 3 times in the past 2 weeks. Our new go to when we dont want to cook at home. Food just great, service is like they are your family. Clean as well.

Service was slow and our drinks had black specks in them. When we got our burgers the challah bun was untoasted (making it soggy if the burger itself is juicy) and the burger patty itself only comprised of about 1/3 of the actual burger. I was halfway through the burger before I actually started to eat the beef. I did not try the bourbon they had in house, but I will definitely not be returning for two $17 burgers and leave feeling unsatisfied at the small amount of actual food.Edit as reply to owner:Playing victim is not cool when it comes to small businesses. I am not the bad guy. I am providing my review to warn people they might spend $20 on a substandard burger.
