Came in and sat down waited about 15 minuets and got zero service. Meanwhile the people that walked in 10 minuets after us got served immediately. Very disappointed.

Tonight my husband and I went to El Rancho. A few minutes after we were seated our waiter came to our table. I started to ask him a question and he said "Wait a minute" and he walked away. I've never had that happen before at any restaurant. When he came back, I asked if the Margarita's were from a mix or fresh made and he said they were from a mix. I prefer fresh as it's really not that hard to make a fresh margarita. I then ordered dinner of Enchilada Poblano's with chicken. Halfway through my dinner, I bit down on something hard only to find it was a chicken bone. I've posted a picture of the bone below. I told the waiter and he initially didn't say anything, he just walked away from our table. He came back about 10 minutes later and asked if I wanted another dinner and I said I really didn't want anything else. He just said "Okay" and again walked away. A few minutes later he brought our check and charged us the full amount. It would have been nice to at least get an apology and since we had awful service and no apology, we reflected that in his tip and won't be going back.

I was shocked about my most recent dining experience at El Rancho. This was the worst service and food that me and my family experienced. The waiter had come over to take our order and in the middle he suddenly leaves. He comes back to our table with no apology. One of my family members had ordered some enchiladas and found a bone inside. Once I saw that I was immediately turned off and stopped eating my meal. The establishment didn't even give us a discount or removed it from the check. I will not be returning to that establishment.

When you first walk into El Rancho, it has the typical Mexican decorative flare, with bright colors and walls textured to look like stucco. Depending on the day of the week and time you arrive, you may have to wait, but it's never for very long. (Don't even try to get into the parking lot on the evening of the Poquoson Christmas parade!) Seating is somewhat comfortable. The tables and backs of the booths are painted with beautiful scenes. The chips and salsa are wonderful, but most of the time I have to ask for the white salsa. The wait staff is very friendly, but whatever you need, you should ask for when you order your meal because you may not see the wait staff again for a while. I'm one of those people who likes having both rice and beans, but here you have to order one or the other with your meal. The food is somewhat bland compared to other area restaurants. The fajitas need a bit more flavor. And as far as pricing goes, it's probably just above average for a Mexican restaurant. I don't know how good their alcoholic beverages are because I've never had one.

Just a very good place to eat when you have that urge for Mexican food...steak meat is really good...not full of fat and gristle like so many other places.

The food is delicious, not greasy. Every meal is good. Chips served with two sauces, mild sweet and tangy and medium hot salsa. Service is great, friendly and attentive to please, fairly quickly served hot. Clean and decorated, with seasonal decor. We have been back many times. Recommend for all who like Mexican dishes.

3rd time getting our to go order wrong...missing items...not using pablano pepper for chile relleno instead using a green pepper. Pay all this money hoping they'll get it right trying to give them a chance however NEVER AGAIN...WE will go to Los Compadres on Commander Shepherd where the food or institution isn't so americanized and you get an authentic Mexican experience. El Rancho is mediocre at best. Do not recommend...oh and the bathroom's are disgusting

My daughter was in the mood for Mexican food so we decided to check out El Rancho in Poquoson. The salsa was really good but it does have a kick, which we love. My boys aren't much on Mexican food so they were extremely excited to see they had a wing special that night. I will say. Their wings were cooked perfectly. Nice crisp and great sauce. 10's from the boys. My youngest daughter got a quesadilla and some rice, which she said was really good. My grandson ate all of his rice which says a lot! My daughter and I had the fajitas for 2. It could feed 3 easily. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was we had to order our sour cream separate. Other than that, everything was amazing. The service was quick. The atmosphere was nice. The servers and staff were wonderful. We will definitely go back again!

Had the Nachos Texicano, was delicious! They could use another person on the team, seemed to take a little while for service even though they weren’t to busy.

Nice local restaurant with nice selection of American Mexican foods. Food was good and hot. Service ran a bit slow but it was pretty crowded. We visit every time we are in town. Recommend.

Go to pick up food, pay, get home, wrong order. Call them, lady says she inadvertently gave me wrong order, my order is by register. Ask what to do with food givin, told to keep and come get food. Get there, says someone gave away our food but if we pay again will give us the right food, otherwise we must go home, get the wrong order and return it to get our food. Not happy, I say thank you but I will discontinue coming there as we are regulars, her reply… “ok, good”. What ere they going to do? Give our wrong order to someone else? Disappointed.

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. If you want great food for lunch and not wait all day this is a good choice.
