The hostess and wait staff were wonderful! Unfortunately the food was meh. After reading wonderful reviews about the crab cake, my friend and I both ordered the crab cake dinner. The crab cake was runny (no overwhelming taste of crab), the brussel sprouts were undercooked and no seasoning and the potato wedges had zero salt. I loved Acacia in Carytown, left the area, and moved back recently so I was excited to try midtown. I’m not sure what changed but it is definitely not the same. Sadly I do not believe this location will last because the food was subpar. Again, the entire staff was superb but that’s unfortunately not enough for an $85pp dinner.

My dinner was incredible. Each plate was perfect. I still can't get over how delicious a Caesar Salad can be. I enjoyed every bite of our meal. I appreciate that Acacia is open on Monday. The restaurant is beautiful: every detail down to the bathrooms.

Acacia has been one of our favorite restaurants for years and continues to impress. Their crab cakes are the best I’ve had. You always have an amazing meal!

This is a marvelous restaurant. We had 8 ladies in our group for lunch. The atmosphere is very soothing & quiet, but not so much as you can't carry on a good conversation & laugh it up with friends.
Everyone working was very nice, helpful, and made our lunch special. The Chef went out of his/her way to be accommodating for us. We so appreciated that.
Not one of us had a complaint about the food. And with 8 ladies, that is a miricle!
They have a very extended wine selection too.
We will be back to soak up the great food, see employees again, and the comfortable atmosphere.
I can't wait to try something new.
You will be glad you came here.

Kid-friendliness: I would not bring children here due to the "up scale" food choices.

Wheelchair accessibility: Yes it is

The owner is a strait up racist. After already spending over $150 and trying to continue to order during happy hour in the bar area. She came up to our table telling us we need to move because another party had reserved the area. This (all white party) arrived after us was standing in the bar area and had a fully empty and reserved table in the dining room they weren’t sitting at. Mind you the entire dining area was empty(now I know why this place is so slow, owner makes for an uninviting culture and atmosphere). There was another high top behind us with a (all white) couple who was also not with the party … they were not asked to move to another area of the bar and after we decided to cancel the rest of our bill and leave we saw from the parking lot that the same owner didn’t ask them to leave but instead moved them over to our table so they could continue to enjoy their night. But God for bid you be black and interracial couple and try to have a happy hour date in their poorly patroned establishment. Shame on them!!

One of the most blatant racism moments I have ever experienced! Every one is very unwelcoming when you walk in, my wife and my self were treated very poorly due to either us being an interracial couple or us being dressed casually. Was asked to move by the owner so we wouldn’t disturb a party of 10 due to a reservation they had but the white couple sitting next to us were not asked to move. We were not loud and just looking for a place to drink and eat during happy hour after a long day of work. The owner was very rude and refused to handle the situation and made her self unavailable. It’s a shame that we’re are in 2024 and blatant racism still exists. Our tab was over $150 and we would have spent more but the lack of awareness and professionalism from the owner and management is unfortunate. We will never return and will let everyone we know, know about how this restaurant treated me and my wife… DO NOT GO HERE!!!! RACIST !!!!!

Dont be fooled by the open table reviews-they are for the Carytown location. This ain’t it.
We arrived at 6:15 on a Friday, only one other guest-that should have been a clue. The waitress was outstanding, she was pleasant and attentive. Good thing since there is an automatic 18% tip. I sure hope the staff get the tip.
The red pepper soup and the baguette are delicious.
That’s the end of the good part.
Be aware happy hour discounts are only in the bar area…silly right?
The food was ok but the whole experience deteriorated into a ruined evening when some frazzled woman plopped down at our table and said I wanted to speak her.
Um noooo
She got annoyed with me for not wanting to speak to her…??? But I get ahead of myself.

The music is much too loud, the few other guests who arrived shouted to be heard, it’s crazy.
The crab cake dinner for $36.00 is ok, I guess you can’t expect good seafood at a strip mall restaurant. The potato wedges were tasty, all four of them, however kale should remain a garnish, not a side dish and loading it with salt doesn’t help matters, nothing makes kale easy to eat. Try spinach or a real vegetable as a side Eileen.
We ordered dessert, dad ordered cheesecake with cherries for $14 There were two. Cherries that is, 2 cherries. This ain’t Juniors cheesecake for sure, theirs is cheaper too. I ordered the seasonal dessert, passion fruit tart. What I received was an orange dream whip pie that was over cooked turning the ingredients bitter and unpalatable.
So back to the fizzy haired lady plunking down at our table…
When I confirmed with the lovely waitress that I had indeed ordered a tart and this pumpkin pie wanna be was the result, she told the “Chef” (apologies to my culinary friends that Eileen titles herself as such) who turns out to be the owner. The same person who serves meals with her fingers stuck in the bowl. Good thing it’s only half a bowl of soup or she would have burned her fingers.
Once I understood that this unhappy person was the owner Eileen, I told her the soup and bread were great but that I had not been served a tart but a pie. She shrugged her shoulders and said “oh well we’re not for everyone. She walked away , returned and Slapped the check into the table(I’m not exaggerating) I was chatting with the diner next to me, Eileen leaned in and offered to move the guest away from to me!! He declined, when she walked away he laughed at her audacity and we continued chatting.

In summary if you want a delicious $8 baguette this is the place to go. If you want crab cakes, Krogers had some in the freezer section from Maryland that won’t include hair from a miserable cranky venture capitalist.
I’ve included their most recent health inspection that is listed on yelp from May in the photos Beware!

Popped in for happy hour and left very happy. Tuna ceviche, Cesar salad and a slider dinner. Just enough for a light dinner for two.

Fantastic dinner, the cocktails, appetizer tuna ceviche, fish tacos, monk fish entrees, and cherry brûlée cheesecake - all delicious. They have a neat wine list, good mix. Our waiter was very attentive, owner frequently circling tables checking on everything, it's always awesome. We were reflecting on our Top10 RVA restaurants and AcaciaMidtown is always in the mix - RVA's a foodie town, this place is a gem, it's a solid 4.75 so I'm rounding up.
