Rustic and delicious dishes that excelled on basic points and sheer tastiness, and still managed to be surprising and mind-expanding in subtle but noticeable ways. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked, supple and pillowy on the inside, just a bit crispy and toasted on the outside. The combo of blue cheese and candied pecans was mind blowing a a sauce.
Oysters were huge, fresh and clean tasting, adorned by understated but surprising flavors. Italian in spirit, but Virginia in its fine details. Truly excellent.

Had the most amazing dinner at Alewife tonight. The staff is wildly friendly and accommodating and made the two of us feel so welcome and cared for even when a pair of other customers didn’t. We will be back for sure!
Also do not skip the oysters.

Alewife is among my favorite places in Richmond!! If you’re looking for a super seasonal, delicious meal and a semi casual vibe, I cannot recommend Alewife enough.
The staff are always super friendly and happy to answer any questions. The menu changes very often, but every new dish I try I love! The cocktails are always phenomenal - they get really creative with the cocktails and it’s fun to try the combinations!
Another huge missed opportunity is their brunch!! Very delicious and the last two times I’ve gone it’s been so quiet, go try it!

Never a wrong move here...consistently the best dining experience in RVA, whether dinner or brunch. Constantly changing menu as I commented a couple years ago. The seasonal change up of fresh oyster garnishes is especially creative. As is the cocktail list.

We had a delicious brunch with phenomenal service. Serving sizes were perfect. We had the arctic char, brunch burger, and stuffed french toast and would recommend all three.

One of the best restaurants in Richmond. I could eat those poached rock shrimp, fried clams, and tilefish every day and be happy. Cocktails were interesting and well-balanced too. I was also able to get a reservation at fairly short notice, which is always a plus. I’m hungry again just thinking about it!

Enjoyed it and would return to try other dishes.

Arctic Char for Sunday Brunch. Love the crispy skin on the fish and the brightness of the cucumber salad

As part of Richmond Restaurant Week, we stopped in for dinner today. The food was excellent, the service exceptional and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Best aspect was the fact that $5.25 per meal is donated to Feed More .

Overall had a decent experience. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was delicious. Our waiter seemed disinterested in serving us once we started asking a few questions about the menu, almost like they were annoyed that we weren’t familiar with the options. My husband was brought the incorrect beer and his portion of soft shell crab only had one piece when we saw other plates containing two being brought to other diners. My arctic char was really good though, very well seasoned and tasty. Would definitely come back for the food but hoping for a slightly better experience.
