I got the sandwich yesterday. It was a turkey, cheese and bacon. The bacon was almost raw and the sandwich was cold. They didnt warm it up or anything. Total waste of 9.00!

Be careful they have gnats and bugs flying around in the cafeteria in the display cases with the food they want you to eat, the bugs are also flying around the room and at the tables in the cafeteria

The lights hanging from the ceiling have a lot of dead bugs in them

Today Amuse is getting 4 stars instead of the usual 5. We showed up to our reservation 10 minutes early and could not be seated at our table (which was available) because the kitchen was busy. ?? Once we got seated had been approached by the waitress (who was quite busy) for our food order, we had to ask her to come back because we had not have time with our cocktail and decide on our meal. We ordered the duck breast and the New York strip steak. Both were of the excellent quality and tasty that we have come to expect here. However neither dish was hot except for the French fries. It seems that Amuse all around were having timing issues and not handling the pressures of lunch service. Had this been our fist visit, we would have second thoughts about coming back.

What an incredibl experience for special occasions. Amazing restaurant in the middle of a museum, and they do it right. The menu itself is inspired by the current museum events. The cocktails were super flavorful , food eclectic and the setting superb.

Our second visit. Extraordinary. Their cocktails are inventive and flavorful, not exotica for its own sake. I had oysters to start then the mushroom and cauliflower curry. My wife had the octopus salad then the steak frites. We were seated on the lovely outdoor balcony with a view of the grounds and sculpture garden but even inside the nearly full dining room was quiet and comfortable. Love this place. Staff is flawless.

I was bringing an out of town guest to Amuse for lunch. My selection couldn't have been more perfect! My guest thought that the setting, the food, and the ambience were just fantastic. The service was impeccable! I was so proud to have chosen this particular restaurant. I've been there many times before, and I will continue to be a loyal patron!

Everything was perfect. The food was fresh, innovative & delicious. The service was very professional and efficient. And the location of the restaurant, with its big windows giving out to the sculpture garden, was relaxing and beautiful. We all enjoyed the brunch and we'll be back.

The creativity of the menu is great, but the execution is sometimes a bit short of expectations. The special broccoli and beef dish that accompanied the museum's Samurai exhibit was unique and exceptionally tasty, but suffered from steak that was fatty and grisly. Service is excellent and the ambience is lovely. A delightful setting with a great view of the museum lawn with its sculptures. Wonderful spot!

Actually, my wife and I are reluctant to tell folks how GREAT Amuse at The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is. If too many people know, we may not be able to make a reservation on the special occasions when we can visit. (We live more than an hour away -- so getting to Amuse is a big deal.) The food is original and often a work of art. Some Amuse items are "best in class" within the Commonwealth. And there are almost always "special additions" to the menu. The service is friendly, personal, knowledgeable, excellent. Amuse is the best light fare restaurant in Virginia. (But do not tell anyone, please.)

A very pleasant place to dine, with lovely view out the large windows. Service is excellent, and the food was as well. The only thing we weren't crazy about was the 'tiramisu' - it was interesting, but so different from a classic tiramisu that it would be wise to advise diners ahead of what it is really like. The scalps and haddock dishes were great, with decent portions and seasoned nicely.

Service my Alex was wonderful He even tracked us down when I inadvertently left my credit and Vmfa member cards. Scallops and ginger carrot salad were delicious. Perfectly cooked scallops. Cocktails and drinks were great. Perfect mother daughter lunch. Thank you!

Chef Will made a special meal for me since I have a garlic allergy. I had the oysters and the halibut. I have never had such a good meal. He is the best chef and so kind. Love him and Amuse.

We were celebrating my friend's Bday! When I made the reservation, I asked for a table by the window and we got just that.... The food was incredible, we both had the scallops, our waiter, Alex, was excellent and we both loved it!

Always a delight. Next time you are heading to VMFA - make a reservation and enjoy an elegant yet "down-to earth" dinner. Overlooking the back lawn of the VMFA (great people watching) the food is always excellent and cocktails divine. The chefs change the menu to enhance the exhibits and that is always a plus.
