Great food, great view and atmosphere, great service. Can be noisy as there is not much space between tables.

We went to Amuse to celebrate our wedding anniversary and Amuse made the evening so very special. Every staff member who spoke to us wished us a happy anniversary. Our server presented us wish specially printed menus that read “Happy Anniversary” as the heading. Our server was the best! So lovely and attentive and very careful and thoughtful about being sure my wife's nut allergy was noted. She even arranged a special nut-free sauce for her entree. We will be returning for more special occasions.

From the moment we approached the hostess stand, the staff made us feel special and comfortable. Our server Bryan was attentive & fun, and he made the experience a true delight. Amelia, from the kitchen staff, made excellent recommendations from the menu; the entire meal was absolutely delicious from appetizers to dessert! The fried oysters, braised fennel, baked beets, and pickle pot were outstanding, and the handmade gnocchi were creamy and rich. From vegetarian entree of lion's mane steak to the perfectly prepared cut of beef entree, the chefs showed their culinary expertise. The cinnamon swirl cake for dessert was to die for! This was a birthday celebration for my 83-year-old mother, and she has said that she had such a good time that she felt like she was treated like royalty. The entire afternoon was a birthday celebration to remember. Many, many thanks to the entire staff for treating us so wonderfully even down to the details of providing us with happy birthday menus! We can't say enough about how fantastic the staff is and we can't wait to come back-- A birthday to remember indeed!

Amuse is one of my absolute favorite local restaurants to dine at. As always, everything was absolutely delightful. From the food to the service to the ambiance, every aspect of my dining experience was unforgettable.

Amuse was an unexpected highlight of our visit to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. We had only a limited window of time to visit the museum, and chose to lunch at Amuse because it was the most convenient option. It was a delight! Pleasant, friendly service, creative delicious food, a pretty room with a pretty view. The noise level was quite high, but we could still converse with each other without raising our voices. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful restaurant and view. My cocktail, the Violet Prince, was just the right size and very tasty and beautiful. My husband is from London and said that this is the best shepherds pie he's had in years! Myhalibut was tender, but could have used more seasoning sauce. Our waiter, Chris, was extremely attentive. The seats were very comfortable. Generally, we patronize the café downstairs and use Amuse for special occasions as today was on my 83rd birthday!!

Thé crispy eggplant and the crab rolls were good. The halibut and crab cakes are so small for the cost. The halibut was too dry. The red sauce with the crab cakes was not good and there was too much of it, even under the coleslaw. Skip dessert, the pound cake was dry and tasteless. The ginger ice cream tastes like someone took vanilla ice cream and mixed ginger powder in it. Really bad. It was not worth the calories. The entire meal was well overpriced for the overall quality and portion size. Fine dining aspiring but not there. Wanted to love it but...didn't. Service was excellent.

We shared an amazing eggplant appetizer- so unusual it is hard to describe, but the flavor was fantastic. We also shared a fried green tomato blt, which was an excellent lunch choice as well as a lovely salad. I am a vegetarian and have found that the vegetarian offerings at Amuse are among the most creative and flavorful meals I've had in Richmond. We finished with a grilled peach, pound cake & gelato dessert which was an outstanding value, besides being wonderfully delicious.

What a beautiful setting and experience to end the evening with. Great service with a delicious creative menu, overlooking a scenic courtyard with a sunset in the background.

BEST Cafe – Inside VFMA

We stopped by this cafe after overhearing someone talking about the frozen margaritas, and let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint! There were two options, Mango Frozen Margarita and Blackberry Lime Margarita and both were delicious, super refreshing, and hit the spot. The place was busy and overall was a good quick sit down. The outside area was very nice it was just too hot to sit out there for too long.

The service was quick and friendly, and even though we didn’t try the food (they had items like pizza and pastries). It was perfect for a drink break while exploring the museum!

You could see through the Americano and the milk needed to be refilled, at least the view is nice.

How can you go wrong? You view the wonderful Frida Kahlo exhibit and then head upstairs to the restaurant for a delightful lunch. A friend from Philadelphia comes to Richmond periodically, and we try and meet up at the VMFA for the art AND for lunch. We always enjoy both. The restaurant is the perfect place for us to not only enjoy a delicious meal but to have the chance to catch up. The setting is lovely, the menu choices varied and appealing, and the food and drinks quite satisfying. Highly recommend.

Great time as always at Amuse! Food, service, and ambiance were on point. We were celebrating a birthday & they reached out via text 2 days prior to ask if I'd like to personalize the menus with a birthday wish! What a nice added touch! We always enjoy Amuse & will be back very soon!
