Blue Habanero - Street Tacos & Tequila

We got sick from eating the food. At the time, we enjoyed the food and the service was wonderful. A few hours later my stomach was in knots. We ordered street corn, tuna ceviche and chips and queso. No idea what happened but I thought I'd share my story.

The queso and my passionfruit mojito were good. The street corn & the veggie tacos I got were not good… everything tasted boiled & bland. I didn’t eat but one bite of the tacos. My husband got the short rib tacos and he said the flavor is good but they are so dry. The food came out so fast, feels like more of a fast food joint where the food is pre made vs made fresh when you order… we did not know that coming here.

margaritas didn't seem to have tequila in them and the bartender was trying to sell a little too hard. nice interior, big menu...lots of mexican food in rva though

The food was out within 5 minutes of us sitting down and was COLD. The birria tacos were absolutely tasteless. The only good thing was the service.

Looking for tequila and mezcal? Right here is your spot. In addition to good service from Aspen, we had good drinks and food. Some difficult to find mezcals and tequilas available for pours, along with flight of whatever you fancy. The food was fresh and tasty, the decor fun. We enjoyed our lunch and would visit again.

Everything was great. Im picky about al pastor tacos and the ones here were delicious. 10/10 food and service. Will visit wherever we are in the city.

I love this place but I tend to go at lunch when it's less crowded. Great margaritas and tacos! At night it does get loud.

We stopped by for a late lunch after the crowds had cleared out. The old Strawberry Cafe has been cleared out, but if you look at the decorations closely you will see some strawberry reminders. You can get three street tacos in an order along with one side dish. There is a large variety of meat, fish, and vegetarian tacos along with other dishes. The huitlacoche tacos were very tasty, but were hot enough before adding the spicy sauce that seems to accompany everything. Even the refried beans, whipped and creamy, were hot to my palate. The tres leches cake was soothing with a layer of a sort of strawberry pudding and large enough of a slice to share. I would go again if I could stand the heat.

Their food is excellent. If I was reading just the food I would have given it 4.5. Unfortunately service is not even subpar. We’ve given them six chances. To start with every restaurant should give every diner water right off the bat. You have to ask for Water. Refills are impossible. Your waiter will likely not be seen again until it’s time to bring the check. They do seem to be preoccupied with having fun within themselves and not paying attention to customer needs. It’s a shame but even the waiters don’t seem appreciative of the 50% tip That I typically leave. My thinking is if you want good service they have to remember you the second and third time. I’ve not once been recognized as being a decent tipper. We found blue habanero during the week that our favorite Mexican restaurant was shut down for repairs. Our first visit was the food was amazing but the service was horrible.
We decided to follow up the next week but we got the same bad service. I certainly hope the owner pays attention before his employees put him out of business

Great Restaurant. We checked in and were seated within 10 minutes. Margaritas were ordered, spicy mango was a table favorite.
We ordered the trio sampler first and it was good.

For main meals we ordered Street Tacos, Tacos Vallarta, and 2 orders of Tacos La Paz. They were all delicious. Service was was fast. The restrooms were clean.

This was our second time here and we’ll definitely be back.
