Based on reviews, we were excited by our reservations for Botanya to celebrate my husband's birthday. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing overall. First, it was SO HOT inside the restaurant - it definitely made it impossible to enjoy our meal, and by the time we left my (thin, fit) husband had sweat through his shirt. The only reason I was able to tolerate it was I had on a sleeveless dress. It was incredibly noisy, and there was nothing remarkable about the decor or atmosphere. With the exception of the server who brought out my drink (popcorn old fashioned - not bad but very sweet) and our food (same server), the service was indifferent. Not rude, just completely indifferent. One positive - they have menu items that they can make vegetarian or vegan on request, and we do appreciate that. However, the entree we did get (avocado pesto) wasn't that great. It was very salty with a lot of black pepper. They don't offer any bread with the meal, which was surprising, so that was another disappointment. We had been eyeing this spot in Carytown for awhile, but even though we recently moved to the area, we won't go back. The food wasn't great, the service wasn't great, the atmosphere wasn't great, and it was way, way too hot to enjoy our meal. Maybe weekdays aren't the best time to go, but we're just not willing to give it another shot.

Probably the best Italian restaurant in the city. The food was delicious (especially the beef lasagna), reasonable pricing, creative cocktail list (try the popcorn old fashioned), beautiful ambiance, and amazing staff.
