I tried the chicken over rice at Halal Munchies Richmond and it was really great! The flavor was amazing and perfectly seasoned. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the rice was fresh and well-cooked. The sauces added the perfect touch and made everything even better.

We tried the chicken over rice at Halal Munchies with high expectations because we previously had their chicken gyro and really enjoyed it. We were especially excited to try the platter this time. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The rice was undercooked, which made it hard to fully enjoy the dish, and the quantity of sauces provided was very minimal for the portion size. Also, if you’re planning to dine in, be aware that the kitchen is right next to the seating area. The strong food smell tends to cling to your clothes, so keep that in mind and we prefer only take out if we visit again.

The place has a small seating area, but it was crowded when I visited around 11:30 pm, which honestly says a lot about how popular it is.

I am always excited to try new places, and this has been on my list for a while.
So as I was driving home after a grocery trip, I decided to stop. It is below 30° outside, and they have both the front and back door open. So it is freezing and generally uninviting to sit down today.
The falafel… I had half of a piece before deciding it is not for me.
The staff is friendly, and the portions are quite large. I had a gyro, fries, and falafel. The chicken has about the same color as flamin hot Cheetos, but honestly not a lot of flavor.
Will I be back? Probably not. But it’s worth a try - especially if you are someone who lives a halal lifestyle. It was busy and they were efficient in getting orders made.
My favorite part was the fries. They’re definitely frozen from a bag; but the stayed crispy and hot on a 20 minute drive home.
