This is the best of all the KK places I've tried (this was the 8th). It's perfectly crispy, Piping hot, super juicy (actually dripped down my face), and is served to you by a delightful man with a slight accent and kind eyes and a big smile.

The BEST fried chicken, and definitely worth a stop on the way up the hill toward Tahoe, or just a short drive out of Sacramento to the Foothills. You can eat outside if the weather is nice, or just take it to go. Located in the 76 Station right off the freeway so easy access and good for RV travelers with space to park. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Give it a try.

It's almost embarrassing how good this chicken is. This is by no means a fancy location. The locals call it "gas station chicken" because of the proximity to a gas station next door. Let's face it; this place is basically a bodega/convenience store. The chicken isn't even their main product, but they do it really well for some reason. I will repeat. BB

I waited in the line 10 minutes just to find they were out of chicken the guy behind the register barely knows english and the person cooking chicken barely knows english they couldnt even ask her how long the chicken would take this place is so ghetto the guy was sweating and wiping his head with his forarm and not cleaning his hands or wearing gloves touching jis face multiple times and failed to tell anybody in the food line there is no chicken they are plain stupid here

Great chicken horrible service. Call in your orders, and expect to wait an extra 10-14 minutes when you get there. If they tell you they don't have dark meat, they lying. Make sure you check your receipts. The lady charged me for white meat when I got all dark...

Something is plain wrong when a convenience/liquor store has better fried chicken than an actual chicken place! I've had the fried bird in many a place. None like this. But real hood rats like me know it's not ambiance that makes good food. This is only a take out place mind you... but everyone says it's better than Popeyes, chick Filet and "paleeeze" is uttered when asked, is it better than KFC? So there are no KANE'S places in Nor Cal I can think of but when I saw chicken strips with original sauce I knew that would be the choice, so I could compare. They asked if I mind waiting 4-5 minutes and they would make me a fresh batch vs the ones sitting in warming display case. Ah ok... Mind you this is convenient from the I-80 freeway but it's definitely in dah hood. I pass by a lot to pick up the 80 north. Or bypass the crappy central ave exit to go to ElCerrito. So I spy the often over flowing parking lot, and spoke to some locals here and there and KK is dah real deal! You know when southern black folks, Korean neighbors, AND dah bruddahs from Hawaii all agree it's the best... I'm eventually going to remember and try it. Today it was; based on some collard greens I slow brewed over bacon, garlic and chicken bone broth all day yesterday making them lip smacking ready 2-night. Ahhh what goes well with killer collards? Fried bird with some heat! Yep a splendid accompaniment.. crunchy, flaky, crispy outside; moist, tender, juicy, inside. I wasn't feeling the ample containers of provided "original sauce" as it kind of overwhelmed the chicken. But some Franks hot sauce, made it popping good eating.

- 10/10 do NOT get the mashed potatoes bc they literally taste like plastic. I'm a fan of KFC mashed potatoes & hoped they were similar, but...it wasn't anywhere close. I took one bite & didn't want waste calories eating something that bad. - Krispy chicken sandwich had WAY too much mayo on it. I literally had to scrape off all the excess mayo off the sandwich. Also, wasn't a fan of the sweet pickles. It was sad how soggy the chicken in the sandwich was... - My order was supposed to include biscuits & a soda, but no side or soda arrived with it. Good thing I got my $ back on DoorDash. - Would recommend the cajun tenders! The coating was flavorful and crispy while the inside was juicy and moist. This was the saving grace of my order! If the tenders were bad, I would've rated this place 1 star.

The worst service I've ever received my mother is away in school and I try to order her Uber eats I. The weekends because the cafeteria is closed. For the past three weeks I have ordered her food from this restaurant and they have gotten her order wrong every time And every time I call to report it they promised that they will rectify it the next time. I called last night to let them know that they have forgotten some things in my order and was screamed at by a man who answered the phone said all you want to do is complain and that he doesn't even work here. When I asked him well then why are you picking up the phone he says because no one in the restaurant speaks English and the manager is not here I asked for his name or the supervisors name he said just call back tomorrow. The cashier finally got on the phone only to tell me that he can't understand me because he doesn't speak English but it was only a biscuit and a soda no big deal. Maybe they're nicer in person but I would definitely not suggest ordering from Uber eats at this restaurant ever again.

Holy WOW! If Mamaw were still alive she'd never cook chicken again, and we'd be eating this every night with her fried okra and homemade icecream. Lucky for me this convenience shop keeps a fresh rotation of Haagen-Dazs on hand. But back to that righteous chicken! Super fresh, never frozen, perfect cajun spices visible throughout the tender juicy meat, even the breasts. Plus, the absolute perfect level of buttermilk crispy coating seasoned to make your mouth water and eyes tear w/joy! When I left the Midwest I never dreamed the West Coast would be a fried chicken desert. I've tried the fried chicken everywhere I've seen it on the menu. And, no, the central valley or SoCal did not make the grade anywhere off Hwy5. Not once has CA fried chicken stood up to Mamaw's, much less edge out front like Krispy Krunchy! Also, I never imgined I would find the best chicken of my life in convenience stores and gas stations so close to home! Let me diverge a minute to the sides. Biscuits, yay-as! Oh, delicious honey-buttered biscuits, you're so sweet and savory, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Just the way I love to be loved. Get extra, because folks will be fighting over these! We get 1:1 biscuits to pieces of chicken, then enough more to have with breakfast in the morning. Jambalaya is the other winning side. Chocked w/goodies, super tasty and never soupy or mushy. Their jambalaya beat out all three soul food restaurants that have come and gone from a location just down the street. The other sides are generic, but who freaking cares? It's all about the chicken and biscuits!! Also, they offer dipping sauces with whole pieces of chicken, not just the tenders (which are nowhere as delicious as the fresh bone-in pieces). The dipping sauces are the usual li'l mass-produced dressing cups, so we always skip that. The chicken needs no dressing, but if you got to have your hot sauce, I keep Yucatan Sunshine Habanero Sauce (not-deadly hot, just delicious) in the car to compliment the chicken's cajun flavor without overwhelming no matter where I'm headed after I pick it up. I've got to say more about this chicken, in that the breading is never doughy or undercooked on the interior. It is as crispy and crunchy as the name promises. The chicken itself is never overcooked, tough, or dry. Juicy and plump! It's never undercooked or questionable in its freshness, but bursting with injected flavor! Oh, how I love it so! And because that ole chicken jones will strike late at night or often folks will just drop by, so we make sure to get enough to keep an emergency 8 pieces in the freezer at all times. Toaster oven on 400 degrees for 16min, flipping halfway through. If you want to wreck it, use a microwave. I'd like to say how friendly and helpful the staff is at this location on Carlson. They don't care if you're wearing sweats. And if they're down to their last few pieces they're happy to drop a fresh batch on the spot. Oh, and once you've established yourself as a regular, or someone who places large orders, they'll offer you the to-go call in number, so your dinner is packed and ready when you get there. Really nice earnest folks who know how to keep the line moving. Hardly ever a wait to place your order. Chicken and biscuits, ice cream and lotto tickets! They've got my number. Mamaw and I say Amen & Hallelujah!

I didn't eat here, but the line was jumping, food smelled good and there were a variety of options (shrimp, chicken, biscuits, pizza). The labor crew said it was alright. Service was a little slow.
