My wife and I just went here for the first time. The chicken is very good and the food doesn't leave you feeling bloated. When we come back to Richmond, we will most certainly be back!! It is now our favorite chicken spot!!

I'm a big time, HUGE fan of Lee's. I LOVE Lee's like a fat kid LOVES Cake... and doughnuts, cheeseburgers, popsicles, and pies, etc. You get the point! Every time, I visit my old stomping grounds I try to stop by however, this last trip on 9/01/20 was not the same. I'm not sure if Lee's has changed their seasonings levels because of the new Whole Paycheck next door or if the cook was outside smoking in the back by the dumpster but two words, "FRIED FLOUR." I was SO INCREDIBLY disappointed with this last visit. Of course the ladies were all nice and customer service is always on target but that chicken was not the same. As for the livers, they were good like livers should taste, but the chicken was not like Lee's. OF course I will be back, but I will give it a few months. Maybe it was a new cook or maybe it was the rain? I Don't know.

Tonight Lees wasn't my 1st choice, but when my 1st choice was closed I thought OK I'll give them a try. Typically I'm faced with unhappy or IDGAF kinda reception when stopping to ready myself to order. Yet tonight I was created by a plesant, cheerful and professional sounding voice across the speaker. I was enchanted as her professionalism made me forget about all my past not so welcoming order takers. So in this world of too many bad things I made sure to let her know how much I appreciated her and to not change! Thank you Destiny for being YOU! 8/30/2020 8:50 pm Lisa Phipps

Best fried chicken in Richmond! Just tried Lee’s famous Francia can for the first time today. Chicken was absolutely amazing as where the sides. The green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy were absolutely phenomenal. Cannot wait to go back!

Great experience! The speed was on point, the price was very affordable, the chicken was delicious, the biscuit melted in my mouth and the green beans smacked!I'm a Louisiana-born Popeye's fanatic...and I will never besmirch their good name, but the next time I have a hankering for fried chicken...I may just venture on over to Lee's! Well done folks!

I ate here almost 20yrs ago and I never forgot this place. I live in the NE so the closet location is Richmond. I ALWAYS stop and pick up some Lees chicken whenever I'm in VA. Staff has always been extra polite and courteous. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted warmly by a young female worker as well as the cashier. Chicken was yummy and the biscuits were perfect. Fries were a little soggy but all of their dipping sauces are on point! Honestly I wish I lived closer. And not to forgot their freshly brewed sweet tea! My fave! Unfriended a southern delicacy we can't get up North (not good quality anyway). Can't wait to return always a pleasurable experience.

I ordered the 3 strip meal with Mac and wedges. Cons - mac is not even close to homemade, taste likeIt's from a can - fries had no crunch at all ( but solid flavor)- employees where arguing between each other a bit aggressively in front of me Pros- the chicken was fresh and juicy and a perfect tender (the chicken is the reason to go, sides could be passed on)- also they where over generous with sauce, I asked for 2 and they gave me- biscuit was fluffy and nice - tea is better then most fast food If all you want is chicken this is the place to go, if you want a full meal the sides don't hold their own.

They are open and available via Postmates for delivery. Apparently they have a limited menu so the chicken sliders I ordered were unavailable but I was still charged for them. The chicken tenders were a good size but not good. THIS IS THE WORST MAC AND CHEESE IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Worse than Kraft made by a 3 year old. Biscuit was dry. The honey mustard is ehh. You do get two sides when you order tenders and it was pretty cheap but that doesn't matter to me because I'll never eat here again.

My girlfriend and I have been intrigued by the constant never-ending-line of cars at the drive-through and the delicious smell of fried chicken for WEEKS. Last night, we decided to check Lee's out to see what all of the hype was about. We ordered strips, fried chicken, biscuits, green beans, and Mac and cheese. When we pulled up to the drive-through window, the workers weren't wearing any masks or gloves, and no one was particularly nice. When opening the box, we immediately noticed a black curly hair on the biscuit. Gross, but we removed the hair and dug in. The bone-in fried chicken was absolutely amazing-- juicy and had crispy/flavor packed breading. The strips were decent with a funnel-cake-like breading... probably not good enough to put in the name of Lees. The biscuits were flaky and buttery. The green beans were slightly smoky with some ham, similar to the cut of canned green beans. Mac and cheese was basically out of the box. Overall, the fried chicken was worth the massive line of cars. If it wasn't for the hair and lack of COVID-precautions, this would be a 5-star review. We'll be back.

Every time I drop my daughter off at school, we drive pass this place. The drive thru line is always long & inside is super busy. So, today I finally gave them a chance. The line was sooooo long, but it was pretty fast. We ordered a regular chicken liver, 2 piece chicken strip snack, & a 4 piece dinner with baked beans & potato wedges. First, they didn't have any wings. Then we had to pull up and wait for our food. That wasn't a problem for me because I was thinking all of our food would be fresh. Unfortunately, the livers were not fresh & tasted like they were cooked earlier and sitting under a warmer all day. The biscuits are exactly like KFC. The fry coating on the chicken & strips tasted like a blend of KFC original & crispy. I liked it. The potato wedges were good and so were the beans. It's like KFC 2.0. The food was good for the most part. I would definitely go back.

I went through the drive through at Famous Recipe Chicken on Wilmington Pk.The man at the window had no mask or gloves. He was within 2 feet from my face.I emailed corporation re.Mr.Doran replied. They do not require their employees to wear masks ect.Stating Ohio is not requiring masks. This is irresponsible and risky.I will never dine there again

So everyone seems to be a Lee's fan but me. I had it once years ago and wasn't impressed. I moved to Texas for one and just recently moved back, and I decided go and get something to eat after chemotherapy. I was right next to Lees as I had just went to Whole Foods. Well since I don't frequent this establishment I drive around the building looking where to place my order. Since I saw nothing I pulled up to to window and before I could get my question out my mouth the rude worker tells me I need to place my order at the speaker. I told her I don't come here and As I was in the process of about to ask where the speaker was she closes the window! I was also picking up something for my Godmother and that is the only reason I still ordered something when I found the menu/speaker across from the restaurant. Who places a drive-thru there?! I was going to say something to the young lady that closed the window in my face but I decided I will contact a manager and write a yelp review. So after I received my two orders I proceed to leave. I thought after 9+ years things would have gotten better. The only thing that was good and tasty was the biscuit and the skin on the chicken. The mashed potatoes nor the green beans had any seasoning or taste. On top of that the chicken was dry. Highly disappointed and I see for me nothing has changed, oh wait the rude customer service!

I heard a lot about this place - heard the fried chicken was the best. Came on a friday night right before close, got in and ordered right away. Plenty of seating although it was off peak. My friend and I got the family meal to share - it was 2 sides, 4 biscuits and 2 of every piece of chicken. The chicken was very crispy, didn't feel too heavy eating it. I am a dark meat person - the thigh, drumstick and wing were all delightful - I could keep eating it. The white meat on the breast wasn't too dry, plenty of dipping sauces if that's your thing. Mac N Cheese was creamy, good compliment ot the meal, the mashed potatoes honestly weren't anything special. The biscuits were flaky and warm, not too buttery. Overall decent and efficient experience, for the price good value. Not the best chicken I have ever had, but worth a try, especially if you want to support the non-chains.

Have been coming here since I was a kid, but this was my first time back in at least 15 years. The fried chicken was just as delicious as I remember. This is the best place for fried chicken in Richmond, hands down.

There's a lot of hype about this chicken being the best in Richmond, so I had to try for myself. I ordered through the drive-through and got their chicken strips with biscuits. I told them what sauces I wanted and then proceeded to pay and pick up my order. When I got my food and was driving off and reaching to try their biscuits, I realized it wasn't there, along with the sauces. Not sure how they forgot something like that. I had to turn around and let them know about the incident. When I pulled up and told them, they were nice and understanding about it; they gave me the food they forgot.Overall: I like how the chicken was hot and crunchy. It was a little on the drier side for me, but I wouldn't say it the best I ever had. Although I do enjoy their biscuits and how light and fluffy it was. My experience would have been better if they didn't mess up on my order and I had to wait in the long line for them to correct it. Maybe I'll have better luck next time and try their other sides on the menu.
