My partner and I went to Lost Letter last night for a celebration dinner. We tried a cocktail each and shared a bottle of wine. We ordered a bunch of appetizers/food to share and everything was delicious. The service was absolutely top notch. They boxed up my leftovers and checked them in the back so we could enjoy our dessert without them on the table and brought them back out when we were finished. I noticed that every little detail was considered, even with how they treated the tables that were around us. We both agreed this was the best dining experience that we have had in Richmond.

Horrible service and the food was not good at all - this was an extremely disappointing dining experience. Not only the hostess but the managers and servers are rude, as well.

From the moment we stepped in here, we were greeted with rudeness and bad attitude and told to go wait outside because our table wasn't ready (we had a reservation and the table was late). After waiting for 20+ minutes, we finally got upset and complained because they seated a walk-in group right in front of us. Their response to this was one of the managers coming out to passive aggressively lecture us. We honestly should have left then because we proceeded to get mediocre food and more passive aggressive service. After seeing so many great reviews on social media, I was so confused why we were treated so poorly from the second we got to Lost Letter but looking around the place, there wasn't much diversity in their clientele at all so take that as you will.

I'm not one to write long reviews or even write reviews at all, but if I'm paying $40 for an entree in Richmond in a place that claims to be *fine dining*, I expect the service and food to match, especially considering how amazing most of the Richmond food scene is. Go to Gersi instead, please!!! Can't wait to try the next new place that replaces Lost Letter very soon :) <3

Outstanding food as always, with the exception of our dessert. The pecorino ice cream was candidly awful and quite literally left a bad taste in our mouth.

Unfortunately, when we sat down at the bar at 11:45pm on New Year's Eve to have a glass of champagne to ring in the new year (we did not want to be in an uber home at midnight), one of the bartenders was visibly upset that we were allowed to order a glass of champagne (all that was required was pouring), even muttering a curse word in our direction. Note that there were about 6 others seated at the bar at the time, all of whom had been served and were under no pressure to vacate the restaurant. The same grace was reluctantly extended to us.

Altogether, a pretty disappointing and less-than-desirable way to cap what had been a wonderful (and very expensive) NYE dining experience.

Exceptional dining experience! We visited last night with friends and were truly impressed from start to finish. The service was impeccable—our sommelier’s perfect attention to detail, including keeping our wine glasses topped throughout the evening, set a wonderful tone. The entire staff was attentive without ever being intrusive, and each dish was presented with thoughtful, well-spoken descriptions that highlighted the craftsmanship behind the menu.

I should have taken photos of the food, but honestly, you can simply imagine works of art. The menu was ample, varied, and refreshingly unique, with flavors and presentations that were as beautiful as they were delicious. The wine and cocktail list was extensive and provided excellent pairings throughout the meal.

It’s rare to find a dining establishment where the team is so clearly well trained and laser-focused on delivering an exceptional customer experience. This visit renewed our hope that true fine dining is still alive and well locally.

We deeply appreciated the memorable evening. We’ll absolutely be telling others—and we will definitely be back.

My wife and I went without reservations and ended up at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and made some good suggestions. We ended up getting the octopus appetizer and it was very good. The entrees (rockfish and seafood pasta) were also very good. The drinks were also top notch lol. Nice place.

Beautiful atmosphere, the sommelier Sean was wonderful and we enjoyed him sharing his knowledge of wine with us. No need to feel intimidated if you’re not a wine connoisseur he did not judge our peppering of questions one bit. :) The server Grayson was also great and helped us choose dishes we enjoyed while being careful of a gluten allergy in our group. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.

We went here to celebrate my birthday. It was a nice gesture they included a little cute birthday card on our table. They have a gorgeous outdoor courtyard seating area. Kind of wish we ate outside. The food is OK for the price that they charge, nothing special. However, I’m giving a two stars because we brought a cake and they charged us almost $50 for a cake cutting. The worst part was that they never told us. That is pure robbery. Service was just OK. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.

We’ve had phenomenal meals, drinks, and service here. We’ve also had underwhelming experiences on all counts here, including our most recent visit. Service here is typically stellar but last week it took 20 minutes to be greeted by our server once seated, and then another 20 after ordering drinks to receive those. This was at 8 pm on Wednesday night when they were not overly busy. My husband’s pasta was very undercooked and the sauce was just OK. My fish was fine but it’s the only main on their menu that someone who is gluten sensitive and avoids red meat (and the fish is served on rice with sausage) can have. So despite an often changing menu, this fact never seems to change. We’ll almost certainly go back and try again but do wish their hits outnumbered their misses.
