We’ve had phenomenal meals, drinks, and service here. We’ve also had underwhelming experiences on all counts here, including our most recent visit. Service here is typically stellar but last week it took 20 minutes to be greeted by our server once seated, and then another 20 after ordering drinks to receive those. This was at 8 pm on Wednesday night when they were not overly busy. My husband’s pasta was very undercooked and the sauce was just OK. My fish was fine but it’s the only main on their menu that someone who is gluten sensitive and avoids red meat (and the fish is served on rice with sausage) can have. So despite an often changing menu, this fact never seems to change. We’ll almost certainly go back and try again but do wish their hits outnumbered their misses.

Exceptional service and cuisine. Thanks for making the wedding party feel special!
As transplants from the Washington DC area, we were not expecting to find such a high caliber restaurant in Scott’s Addition. Our servers and attendance were so attentive during our meal that we were not left wanting for anything. We particularly enjoyed the fact that we did not have to call over the sommelier, the wine expert, she intuited that we would like an expert opinion and was able to provide us with an excellent selection to pair with our meal. The food was also exquisite, delicious, well fought out, and beautifully presented. At the end, all we would like to impart to anyone who is thinking about going to this restaurant, is that we had a fabulous time, and hope that you consider what we said, and hope you’re able to enjoy your meal here as much as we did

Let’s start with the food: simple, soulful and decadent. Flavors balance perfectly to create a superb taste and texture. I had no issue walking off the street and getting an early table in the garden. The decor both inside and out really lent itself to the food creating a seamless dining experience.10/10 would recommend as your next date spot, just get out here and give it a go, you will not be disappointed!

Everything was so good. Love the atmosphere a lot, we got an outside garden. Highly recommended for a date night, birthday, anniversary. Would be back again ❤️ the most delicious is beef tartare, and anchovy salad (couldn’t remember exactly name), pasta was good too!

This is one of those rare times when five stars isn't enough. My wife and I dined at Lost Letter tonight and left with huge smiles on our faces.
We each began with a Saturn cocktail, which was delicious. We started with antipasto and tartare. Both dishes were exquisite. We enjoyed a bottle of italian wine with the halibut and ravioli mains. The halibut was served with black rice and fennel sausage. The combination was magical. The fresh ravioli with corn and chanterelles was devine.
Top ten experience and we can't wait to return!

Lost Letter is a great place for a special occasion dinner or random pop in to the bar. The food is delicious and fresh and the atmosphere and staff are wonderful. The tiramisu is top notch.

Absolutely fantastic from the first pour to the last bite. Lost Letter does fresh pasta the way it should be done: silken, springy, and sauced with precision. The risotto is textbook all’onda, grains distinct yet creamy, with depth that comes from real stock and patient stirring rather than shortcuts. The ravioli are delicate and generously filled, the kind of pasta that seals cleanly and eats like a small event, whether the filling skews bright and vegetal or rich and cheese-forward. Slow-cooked meats show the same care, with ragùs that taste layered and patient rather than heavy. Cocktails are solid and properly balanced, and the wine list is astutely curated, with enough Italian range to make pairing feel fun instead of fussy. The room has that warm, lived-in glow and an easy hum that makes time disappear, and service is attentive without hovering. Easily the best Italian food in Richmond.

Recently visited and was quite the gem! It's located in an unsuspecting place, and should not judge from the outside as the inside is beautiful and quite vibey. If the weather is nice, sit in the outdoor area.
*Do not... do not run into the clear glass leading to the outdoor area*
Reservation? Highly recommend you reserve your table weeks in advance!
Food was great. I highly recommend the Beef Tartar, Cavatelli, and the Pesce Arrostito. Other food items were good but these dishes to me had the best flavors. The Gnudi Di ricotta was also good but I lean towards food that is packed with spices/higher hotness... so take this recommendation with that in mind.
