The food is good but the service was awful. We had a 7:45 reservation for a party of 9. We waited 15 or 20 mins just to place an order, we asked to order food at that time since we had ample time to look at the menu but they would only take our drink order. Once we finally were able to place a food order the food took a long time to arrive which is to be expected on a busy night, however we were not given bread or revisited by a server, we were all out of water and wanted to order another bottle of wine for the table. We got our food after 9:00. The food was good but they added pineapple to our pizza, thankfully the kids were ok with trying something new. They also didn’t bring dressing for our salads and we had to wait AGAIN (5 mins of more) for them to return with it. After eating we waited some more just to pay the check. They clearly are understaffed and should not take reservations if they do not have anyone to visit the table. The delivery robot is not a replacement for someone to take your order. We did not leave until after 9:45. I love the idea of a local family business but I don’t think we will be going back.

I have had pizza delivered from Maldini's forever because they are so good. I ate there recently, and the pasta dish I had was outstanding. The bad news is dinner took 2 hours because the service was so slow - there were three of us that evening and all three dishes were excellent, but our salads never came. That just seems unacceptable for a restaurant that has been in operation at the same location for decades.

Food was amazing! Service could use some work. No one greeted me when I came in (it was very slow) and really no attention while eating. Definitely be back but probably just order to go.

My family and I love it here. Admittedly, the last few times we went, the service was slow when it wasn't particularly busy. This time, we got our food delivered by a ROBOT! No joke! It was wild! The pizzas and pasta here are always amazing. The owner is nice and clearly cares about what they're making. There is a nice photo of a very handsome Paolo Maldini.
Kid-friendliness: I just had my toddler with me and he loves the food there.

I was so happy to see they had fresh pasta, it had been years since I had Buccatini Ammatriciana, and theirs was truly fantastic. It really shows how much they care about quality fresh ingredients. If you are craving fresh pasta, this is the spot!

Food is amazing. Service is the worst. Smallest of water glass. No attention to drinks being empty. They offered us bread when we had nearly finished the meal when it should have been included with the meal or on the table before the meal.

This is a true traditional homemade pasta joint and the difference between this one and any other “Italian” place in the area, IS THE QUALITY OF THE PASTA!!! Compare their fettuccine cut to any other place and Maldanis wins everytime. Soft, buttery and clearly not boxed and manufactured processed. They are worth the price, this is a family owned spot, and we’re lucky to have it as one of Richmond’s own.

Comfortable family place in a strip along Forest Hill Ave. The food is excellent. Try the veal marsala. Service is also excellent . Along with the family you may get to meet Paolo- a robot along the lines of R2D2.
