Great Italian deli. Delicious meats and bread straight from Brooklyn. Great subs, highly recommend!
The grinder was great. Great just bread, great meat, served perfect. As mentioned in other reviews it does take a while ( about fifteen minutes) to come out after ordering. Not much other offerings in the front area, it's a bit awkward to wait with other people and no where to sit.
This place would be Coppola's on steroids with a few tables, it seems the front counter is just wasted space with some junk behind it. A soda machine and some music would also really take it up a notch. I'll order ahead next time, but I'll definitely be back!

After hearing great things about Polpetti Italian Sandwiches from a friend, I decided to bike over and check them out. They’re tucked inside the Market on Meadow store, which I thought was new, but they’ve actually been there for about three years. The owner recently bought the building and plans to rebrand since they’re now the only vendor there. Even better, they’re opening a second location at Harrison and Grace St. soon!
I ordered the Soprano sub, and it was absolutely incredible. It comes loaded with hot soppressata, capicola, ham, sharp provolone, arugula, olive salad, red onion, vinaigrette, and mayo on fresh bread. I added sweet peppers and banana peppers for a little extra punch, and it was a great choice. The flavors were perfectly balanced—the salty meats paired beautifully with the tangy olive salad and sharp provolone, while the vinaigrette and mayo brought everything together. The bread was amazing—crusty on the outside, soft on the inside—and it turns out they get it from New York City!
The owner is such a nice guy, and we ended up chatting for a while about his bread sourcing and plans for the business. You can tell he’s passionate about what he does, and it really comes through in the food.
Polpetti is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise it gets. Whether you’re a sandwich aficionado or just looking for a great meal, this spot is worth the visit. I can’t wait to come back and try more—and to check out their new location when it opens!

Yeah this place is hands down the only place to get a real italian sandwich in Richmond. Packed with quality ingredients on fresh, crusty bread. So much flavor in every single bite! Tasted just like the sandwiches I used to get in Italy. It is so legit that The Soprano made my italian born and raised boyfriend emotional to smell and taste it! Service is a little slow but well worth the wait knowing they’re a small family owned place that puts alot of care into their food. We will definitely return to try every other sandwich they have and will be happy to wait any amount of time for them :)

I saw an article on this place on facebook (about them expanding) and realized I had never heard of them. I decided to try it for lunch and MY GOD. The sandwich I got - the Soprano - was insanely good - like the best cold hoagie I’ve had outside of PA. The guy at the counter was also very chill and nice. I can’t wait for them to have a bigger imprint in RVA!

The chicken cutlet on ciabatta is incredible. I had "the club" which I think is my first ever cutlet sandwich, needless to say, the bar has been set very high. I believe they get all they're bread from NY and Philly weekly. Street parking isn't great but fine during the day. This spot is definitely one of the best sandwich shops in Richmond. Only negative thing I have to say is that the cutlet didn't cover the hole sandwich.

Best sub in Richmond, the Brooklyn style bread, mixed with great meat and cheese sets this place apart. Its not really "sit down restaraunt" more of a small seat area if you need to (maybe 5 seats) my family of 5 enjoyed all of our subs. Will be back

Was excited to try this place after seeing other people post about how good the sandwiches are…but didn’t get to because of how slow they were. Posting as a warning to others: do not go in here if you expect to have it within 10-15 minutes.
When I initially ordered, I asked for 3 sandwiches, the Soprano, Balboa and Meatball. First issue was that they hadn’t made any meatballs the day before: no worries, fine to just get the 2 sandwiches. After ordering them, the kind cashier let me know that it could be 15-20min wait, and would that be okay. I said yes, walked around the neighborhood and ran some errands.
Having set a timer, I returned 20mins later. While there was only 1 customer when I left, there were now 6 waiting for their orders. My order wasn’t ready yet. 5 minutes later, it was clear that they were struggling. The poor cashier has to walk all the way to the back to check on orders. Her trip back and forth was painful for all involved. Another 5 minutes later she acknowledged me (having gotten a break from going back and forth and taking new orders). She said she would check on my order.
Upon her return, she shared that they had run out of roasted pork (it was 12:30pm), so down to 1 sandwich. I said fine, just refund that one and bring up the other sandwich. She said okay, he’ll make it now…😂. I then clarified that my 1 sandwich still wasn’t ready…now 35mins after ordering…and she said yes.
I gave up and asked her to refund everything. Not sure what the wait should be, but 15-20mins for a couple sandwiches seems like too long…and 35+ is ridiculous. It doesn’t seem like they know how to make sandwiches in an efficient manner. Next time I will stick with Stanley’s or 8 1/2.

Girlfriend ordered us some sandwiches on Halloween. They were closing early to trick or treat with their kids! Totally understandable; but my guy Peter was kind enough to still take our order and have it ready within 10 minutes! Super friendly, and amazing sandwiches: even with them being put together that quickly. Can’t recommend their food enough, hope Peter had a lovely night with the kids.

A lot of hype gets shared on the RVA: Dine & Drink Facebook page about this place so my buddy and I decided to give it a go. Definitely impressed. Possibly their signature sandwich, the Soprano, is amazing!
To be honest, when I was reading the ingredients it sounded good, but didn't really stand out too much. When I bit into the sandwich though, I soon recognized where the raving reviews came from: the quality of the ingredients. I can't leave the pasta salad out either; very loud flavors as well.
The man behind the counter and also making the sandwiches had the feel of an owner or at the very least, he's someone who takes great pride in his work there. He was very inviting and genuinely happy we has stopped in.
I'm happy to add another positive token to the list of experiences patrons fortunate enough to have eaten here have enjoyed!

The owner of polpetti is consistently friendly and accommodating, it’s always such a joy to go in and order from them. They have fresh bread and pasta and amazing food (the bruschetta is fire). We live across the country now and Polpetti is on the very top of our list of places to visit when we visit Richmond every time!!
Dietary restrictions: I have a weird allergy to bell peppers and he was thorough in letting me know what dishes had bell peppers in them!
