The food here overall is better than most Mexican food in Richmond. I had the cheese dip, which was just like any other. I had the stuffed pobleno with seasoned ground beef. The meat was well seasoned and the pepper had a slight bite. The beef taco had the same well seasoned meat. The hard taco shell needed to be heated. It was chewy. The refried beans were well seasoned which most Mexican restaurants don't do well. The salsa had some kick to it, so was not bland....

We had our daughter’s graduation party catered this weekend. We had 50+ people and the food from Mexico at Horsepen was PERFECT! It was super easy to order and really, really good food. Everyone at the party asked where we ordered from and complimented the food multiple times. We did tacos (chicken, steak, and pork), taquitos, rice, beans, and chips and queso. We will definitely be ordering for parties in the future!! Thank you Mexico Restaurant!

Immediately seated when we arrived. The host was prompt and attentive. The food was flavorful and came out in less than 15 mins. The atmosphere was quiet at first but it became domewhst loud and busy within 20 minutes. The Monday taco special was $2 for tacos. The Oaxaca bowl and Matahambre Burrito was hot and freshly made. The sweet tea was lacking some tea flavor. The prices are very reasonable and portion size is enough to take home. We will be returning again to try the tacos...
