In RIC for car service. Decided to try this place. Good overall, not great. Miso soup was tepid. Sashimi lunch, sweet shrimp, a specialty roll, and hot tea were all good. Not as artfully prepared as at some places. Nice interior.

I didn’t get my miso soup till it came with the check, but I survived, since the Maki combo was a steal. Basically eighteen pieces of sushi for eighteen dollars! The fish was freshhhh and I was a happy gurl after my meal. It was a little slow, but the staff was getting stuff done!! I support Osaka, and I would 100% chow down on that maki combo again ???? ?

Very mediocre. A quintessential example of a restaurant without any local competition. The food was served lukewarm (we got steak teriyaki) and there was a hair in the vegetables. Service was lackluster and even rude at times. All of the wait staff hangs out in the back next to tables and criticizes the restaurants food within earshot of customers. Additionally, this was the worst green tea and miso soup that I’ve ever had at an asian restaurant of any kind. Overall, this is a restaurant that is all looks and no quality. If you do come here for any reason, only order traditional sushi rolls.

I went here for my birthday, the place was quiet empty but the hostess didn't let us choose a better table(we had a reservation)we ended in a table by the kitchen and my husband unfortunately kept on being hit by the waiting personnel going in and out.Our waitress was really nice and the food was fantastic AND so beautiful ?.We had the starburst roll, the volcano and fried rice, we had some other rolls too, my absolute favorite was the sweet potato. I had never had that one and it was amazing. We tried the edamame and the spring rolls from the appetizers and they were great as well.Food and service was fast. I recommend this place.

The taste of the food is spectacular. The cuts of sashimi are of excellent quality. The salmon in particular is melt-in-your-mouth perfection. My wife and I split the fried calamari appetizer which came over a small bed of crispy noodles with some small chili pieces and a dipping sauce. The calamari was perfectly cooked, excellently crispy and tasted great. The only negatives are nitpicky and not enough to give less than a 5* review, but I will list them just in case it helps others.- Octopus Salad - the flavor of the octopus was great, but there wasn't nearly enough of it. The bowl was, no exaggeration, 6 slivers of octopus each approximately the size of a nickel, and approximately 50 pieces of cucumber, served in a tasty seasoned vinaigrette. When I mentioned that there was hardly any octopus and that it was basically a bowl of cucumber, they brought more octopus over at no extra charge. They were friendly about it and it isn't worth mentioning, other than hopefully the ratio of octopus/cucumber improves in the future.- Table height - I am 6'0 tall (not incredibly tall by any means). The table was short enough that it was slightly uncomfortable, and I found myself having to lean down to rest my forearms on the table. As someone with lower back pain, that was a negative worth noting, and comfort is the only thing that would make me hesitant to come back.- Table size - The table itself was also surprisingly narrow. For perspective, putting my elbows on the table meant that each elbow was on the edge of the table with no room. This was slightly inconvenient, as we had 2 appetizers to share, 2 drinks each (water and a cocktail), a large plate of sushi/sashimi, dishes for soy sauce/wasabi and plates for the appetizers. In a restaurant where dishes are often shared among tablemates, a larger surface area would be appreciated.
Love this place. There is something to be said for consistency and Osaka delivers on that. The service is always friendly (though a couple times it has been a little slow due to it being busy), the sushi plentiful, and everything else darn good as well. We eat here all the time. It's great for dine-in or carry out. Try the crab fried rice!

Two things really made it for me.I’m not sure who I owe the compliment but tasty unique flavors are quite hard to come by! Well done, someone knows a thing or two about flavors. They do excellent sushi but my recommendation is try some rolls with steak and goat cheese.I don’t really like goat cheese and these are some of my new favorites.Second is that the environment is so well balanced. It’s unique but not over done; it’s not too loud but still lively. I enjoy its balance of higher end aesthetic without feeling pretentious. Staff that is attentive but not bothersome. They really hit everything just right, always a pleasure.

Unethical behavior experienced on 1/6/24. We went in at 5 pm without reservation, just two of us, and they said they couldn’t sit us in because they are fully reserved. The family of 4 who just right behind us in line, I overheard them saying they didn’t have reservations either. When I was coming out of the front door I saw the family of 4 got a booth. This is so unethical and bad business!

Beware, the Happy Hour is only at the bar (maybe 10 seats). They neglect to mention that on the website, so we wasted 40 minutes of driving to be told that in person after we'd already been seated. If you don't get there at 5pm exactly you'll be out of luck.
