Love the vibe and the staff are great! One of the most authentic pub experiences in Richmond!

Who doesn't love Penny Lane? Friendly, great service, good food, great bar

Stopped in for lunch when visiting for a wedding and wow did we love it! The ambiance is a classic pub feel and the decor is fun to look over during your meal. I had the fish and chips which was perfectly cooked and yummy, my partner had the Cottage Pie which was also delicious and the ideal comfort food.
The staff was friendly and attentive! We sat in the bar area at a high top. They were setting up for a soccer watch party upstairs it seemed and the place was full of folks waiting to go up. Super fun environment!

My wife and I had a great time and good food on our first visit despite being Man Utd fans! Terrance was super cool. With our oldest heading to VCU in fall, we will make a point of returning every chance we get.

Only leaving a singular star on my review bc I can’t do no stars. Was staying across the street at a hotel for a wedding. Post wedding we all tried to get drinks and this place turned us away at the door for having a large party and said that they didn’t want our business - considering the bar was absolutely empty and they didn’t close for at least another two hours. They then proceeded to scribble on a sign “No Large Parties” and posted it out front at our feet. Not only were they rude, but they’re ungrateful and I will never consider stepping foot near this business again - safe to say the 200 person wedding group will be doing the same. Shame on this place, they would’ve had a great night of business if they accepted our large party.

Awful place to go. Turned the party away at the door. Less than 10 of us were told they could not and would not accommodate us even though there were no people in the bar.

So unfortunate. My colleagues and i were looking forward to trying Penny Lane after a long drive to Richmond and an even longer evening working an event at the train station. The young man working at the door denied entry, told us to leave, and called me a privileged white b!tch. Not a welcoming place. Disgusting treatment from those who should be welcoming visitors. He told me to f’ing leave even though I had not even entered the door. Arms crossed, standing on the top step above me while I at 5’5 and 125 lbs looked up at him in disbelief as he was shouting at me that they were closing in a half hour. We were dressed up as we had been working an event, we were tired, and just wanted to relax. No, we weren’t intoxicated. We’re professional women over 50 who left an event and wanted a drink and a bite to eat. Never again will I go there and from my experience of being shouted at and called a privileged white b!tch, Penny Lane won’t care. Your bouncer needs to be bounced!

I’ve been everywhere in Richmond and Penny Lane might take the cake for the worst service I’ve ever received. Extremely apathetic employees, extremely rude, and not worth spending any time there. If you can’t handle an extended amount of people, you shouldn’t be in business. Immediately went to Bar Solita following this and they had no problem servicing our entire group and did so with a smile on their face. Get out of the service industry if you’re going to be an A Hole

Having been to many English pubs, this was way over the top with cheesy 'British' decor. However the food was very good, and I was impressed with the addition of cottage pie on the menu besides regular fish and chips and curry.

If you love British food and pubs, you must hit up Penny Lane. Guinness is flowing and the bangers and mash are on point! They also decorate wonderfully for the holidays and it's a must see when in Richmond.
