Food was absolutely terrible. Tasted like it was frozen previously. Shrimp were tiny and not fresh. Small portion and the server was unable to answer any questions about ingredients in the dish. Probably explains why the restaurant was fairly empty on a Friday evening. Will not be returning.

Gumbo was flavorful with lots of sausage & chicken. Rice was on top!

Absolutely amazing burger, the big one. Really great seafood dish that my fiance had too. Great vibes, and a really good jazz band Analogue Republic played and was really impressive. We had a great time Thank you!!!

Came here for a drink and was instantly surprised by the live music !!! You can feel the energy as soon as you walk in. Had the pleasure of being served by Brandy who held great conversation and wasn't stingy with her pours. Looking forward to getting to know this bar.

MUST VISIT IN RICHMOND! Truly a craft and culinary dream! Rico, Daniel, and Tatianna are warm, inviting, and make you feel like family! Not to mention the food was deliciously authentic. Be sure to add this place to your favorites when in RVA

I've only had their food delivery, but it is fantastic! Wonderful flavors developed in the food, and it travels well. The gumbo is my favorite from a restaurant outside of New Orleans!

Great food. I had the cat fish collard greens and the mac and cheese. Everything was fresh and very well seasoned.

Great place for Burgers

My wife is from New Orleans and we were married at The Audubon Tea room. Her best friend since kindergarten was in town and we wanted to see how this place held up.Everything was great. We started with the Mac n cheese balls with crawfish. Not a New Orleans cuisine but adding the crawfish was a good touch. I had the popcorn shrimp which I loved. Both ladies had the grilled shrimp which were gigantic and fantastic. They shared some red beans and rice which they both swooned over. Very weirdly they also gave us a burger that we didn’t even order. The food was top shelf. If two born and raised Louisiana girls were praising this place you know it’s legit. Get in here and get you a plate of down home southern food.

Four of us made our first visit to Poor Boys at 6pm on a Saturday evening (they were kind enough to change our reservations from 5:30 at the last minute). I parked the car while the others went in; when I got there, one other couple was in the restaurant, and my party had already been seated and given water. It was a good start. That said, the booth was a rather tight squeeze for four people. Our waiter was nice and friendly. I got the impression he was kind of new. He was not sure of all the beers available on draft, though he did know what beers WEREN'T available (at least three of the beers the menu listed). He also did not know whether crawfish tails were available that evening (he had to go back and check with the kitchen). Thankfully, they were. We started off with the popcorn shrimp (with an AWESOME homemade bayou sauce) and the 3-dish Taste of Bourbon Street. Everyone liked the jambalaya, gumbo, red beans & rice and the corn bread. For entrees we had a shrimp Po-boy (big and lots of shrimp), the Seafood Monica (large, tasty pasta dish), a chicken caesar salad (fine), and jambalaya (an encore after the appetizer). Throughout the evening we had 4 beers and 2 cocktails. We were highly disappointed at the end of dinner when we tried to order beignets and were told that they were out of them, too. When we got the check, I was a bit shocked; they had added a 15% gratuity (for a party of 4?), and the total was over $160. I worked in food service for 20 years, and this is the first place I've been that added a gratuity to the check for such a small party. It was also a bit more expensive than I had expected. Yes, I suppose I should have paid closer attention to the prices, but the concrete floor, the worn and ripped cushions lining one side of the room and the menu that included a number of sandwich and burger options combined for a vibe that, to be honest, did not suggest $170 for a party of four (with no dessert). The food was good, and the staff was certainly pleasant (if a bit inexperienced), so good marks on them. I would be inclined to visit again if it were less expensive. That said, I realize restaurants have been hit hard by the pandemic, and these guys opened up last June - they're certainly not swimming in Benjamins. Fix up the interior a bit, keep training staff -- you're on the right track.

Decided to try this place on Saturday and was disappointed by the food and atmosphere. Shrimp Poor Boy was bland and shrimp not well seasoned and dry and they were out of 3 of the 5 beers on tap. I will try it again though and see if it's any better once things open up fully.
