Cute little place and service was wonderful. I got the fetucini Alfredo with shrimp, fried whiting with cabbage and coleslaw. The fried whiting was seasoned well and fried nicely. The coleslaw was not edible, it was syrupy sweet. The cabbage was cooked well, a bit over seasoned, not too soft with a good flavor. The Alfredo had way too much old bay, it over powered and dominated the dish so thats all I tasted. The alfredo sauce was minimal and not very sustantial nor special, however;...
Unremarkable but well executed soul food on brookland ave, right in the restaurant row. Everything very freshly fried and well seasoned, arguably with a little too much salt. Serves alcohol but we weren't drinking. The hostess was personable and got to us pretty quickly. The music was a little loud and the building is run down, I don't know if it was the humidity but the door didn't even open fully.
This little hole-in-the-wall is hands down one of my FAVORITE restaurants. I’ve taken my parents and friends here more times than I can count 😂 and it never disappoints! I’ve had the whiting, catfish, shrimp, wings, yams, mac & cheese, and string beans so far & not one complaint. Everything is seasoned perfectly and tastes like real home cooking.
