Sumo San is my absolute favorite spot in Richmond to get FRESH sushi. Victor and his crew are some of the kindest restaurant staff in town. The sushi is quality and consistent. I go here so much they know my order and often share fun little extras of dishes they are trying out. I swear by the spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail rolls but truly haven't had a bad meal here. Our favorite specialty rolls are the Alaska Roll and Crouching Tiger. The place is simple, not too fancy...
Sumo San is my favorite restaurant in Richmond. The food is always amazing and the bourbon list rotates with an amazing unique selection. Highly recommend the spicy kinoko appetizer, the garlic fried rice, and the sashimi/sushi/handrolls/rolls. They are always delicious and fresh.
Victor, the owner, also is a phenomenal chef and personality. My weekly sushi addiction, and any office parties will be at Sumo San everytime the opportunity presents. Highly recommend!

Been coming here since 2021 when I didn’t even eat sushi! Victor knew exactly what to make me — and to this day, I only eat sushi from here! Despite living in DC, I make it down every once in a while to eat here again. Very friendly staff, and you can watch victor make the sushi if you sit at the bar. They also have a large variety of beer, liquor, and saki.
