If you haven’t been to The Fancy Biscuit, you’re missing out on one of Richmond’s true culinary treasures! The tomato pie is absolute perfection—flaky, rich, and bursting with flavor—and when paired with the fresh, peppery arugula salad, it’s a light-yet-satisfying dream.

And the Sweet Heat? Pure biscuit brilliance. That perfect balance of spicy and sweet wrapped in a warm, buttery biscuit—you’ll be thinking about it long after your last bite.

Whether you dine inside their cozy, welcoming space or enjoy a meal outside in the fresh Richmond air, the atmosphere is just right. And the service is top-notch—genuinely friendly, attentive, and full of local charm. The staff clearly love what they do and are proud of their city, always ready to share great recommendations or a little Richmond history.

An absolute must-visit—come hungry and leave happy!

You gotta try the fan. Best biscuit meal I've had.

The Tasso Ham & White Cheddar Grits were 🔥and so was “The Fan” and “Sweet Heat” signature biscuits. Straight up 10/10. We left The Fancy Biscuit feeling full and very satisfied. I will definitely visit again. Ps…I only have a photo of the Sweet Heat biscuit because everyone else was already eating.

The food was good! I did not get great service. We’d been in for an hour. They were 30 minutes to closing so the server grabs my plate and rushed us to pay. Incredibly rude and they talked in hushed voices with the other server about the fact that we were still here. Even though we still had ample time to finish our food. Weirdly odd service to provide to black patrons considering the whole vibe of the place. But ya know, gotta love Richmond!

Grilled cheese was pretty good...was supposed to come with honey roasted red skin potatoes and I received plain baked idaho/russet potatoes with honey poured on top.

Excellent combos
Make many appearances.
This place does it right.

Fried green tomatoes,
Pimento cheese with
spicy sriracha swirl.

Many biscuits with
Bold fixings to try.
Leave: belly full and smiling
Share? Maybe 😉

Additional notes: Herb garden in the parking lot, superbly friendly staff and the perfect spot to cool off with air-conditioning when you need to escape the heat.

Came back in December for a take out order and our food was cold, missing items, and my husband was charged extra gratuity after an agreed upon percentage. We wrote it off as a 1 off because we have had good food and experiences previously. Came back this morning for another take out order and unfortunately we won’t be back. We waited over 40 min for our order, watching other larger groups come and go. We were assured our food was coming. Another customer came back with a bag stating the food was not what they ordered. The counter employee looked in the bag, folded it back over and called our order number. My husband requested the food be remade since it had gone with another customer. We were told they wouldn’t remake it because “it has not been opened and the food is what you ordered.” The employee was rude, the food was cold/soggy, and the whole situation was a little unsanitary. It really is a shame because we have enjoyed the food in the past but bad employees make all the difference.

The food is so oily and falls apart. Also why are the pickles sweet? Isn’t it an unspoken rule for pickles to be sour? Very unpleased—I do not recommend this place. I took my children here and we all did not have a good time. The workers are rude, felt judged by them.

I have been excited to come try this restaurant since I checked the lust of where Diners Drive ins and Dives gas. Sites in VA. This was my first stop. Oh my stars!
Music in the background was nostalgic to me. We are definitely the oldest here. The staff was friendly and courteous. Peter our server was fun and was kind with my excitement to try as much as possible.
Some of my choices were so good I ended up ordering to go so I could have them again. I live 80 miles away. I will return as soon as I can get away again!

Wheelchair accessibility: Brought my step dad who is using a walker. Easy to get him inside through the back. Parking out back.

We stumbled upon this little place and I'm so glad we did! Their biscuits are to die for and the service is fantastic. Too bad I live a couple of hours away because I would eat here A LOT! Reasonable prices too. I had the Got Goat biscuit that had a huge piece of chicken, goat cheese, and pepper jelly. Highly recommended.
