Recently moved my son into school at VCU. Stumbled across The HIVE filor brunch. The atmosphere was nice, good music, good vides, and food was great..shoutout to the chef. We had the shrimp & grits, catfish platter, and crab Mac & cheese. And to top it off, Ms. Annette treated us like family. We will definitely be back whenever I'm back in town.
My wife and I love The Hive. Words cannot describe how GREAT their chicken and waffles are. The food here is genuinely made with love. If you choose to imbibe they have $2 house rails on Tuesdays. Where are you going to find drinks cheaper that that? If you have not yet eaten at the Hive, treat yourself. It is relatively small, so, maybe try going at a less busy time the first time you go.
My sister and I decided to try a new brunch spot, and The Hive was a great choice. I ordered the salmon crab cakes with eggs and potatoes, and everything was seasoned so well and full of flavor. I also tried some of my sister’s French toast, and it was absolutely delicious.
I want to highlight Annette, who was wonderful — warm, attentive, and so kind throughout our visit.
