I was so hungry that I didn't take pics of my food. The choice was to go here or some steakhouse place. I was intrigued by the menu and the possiblity of some new flavor experiences. Our server was Elliott, she was great. Knowledgeable, funny, and told us what Trouvaille meant ...lucky find. And it lived up to that. I had a mocktail, it was pretty good. As a person who loves wine and on a break, I needed something to give me the vibe of having a drink but not really having it. Anyhoooo, we had the cauliflower appetizer. It was a variety of textures and flavors that went so well together. It was crispy, the black bean puree was unexpectedly good with the flavor of curry and pickled shallots. We both ordered the braised short ribs. Today was the first time I have had kimchi and it didn't disappoint. There was a fair amount of ginger and whatever else pickled. The crispy rice was great, I wanted more. For the star, the short rib...fork tender. Amazing flavor. This dish is served in a bowl and it's cool for me because I literally could get a bite of everything at once. It was amazing. Everything was very fresh. I'd go back. We also got there before 5 and there was no wait which was great for an early date. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something new.

Service adequate. The food was okay. Portions were small for the cost of the meal. Overall I’m not sure I will go back.

Stopped in here waiting to meet a friend. Sat at the bar. Only had cocktails and appetizers but the bartender, Pierro, and the manager, Jenny, were wonderful.
Steak tartare and duck dumplings were delicious. The cocktail, the Lombardy was one of the better cocktails I’ve had in a while.
Atmosphere was great. Lighting and music were appropriate. It was quiet when I got there but was picking up when I was leaving.
Wish I’d taken more pictures and had more
time to try more, but so will be back.
Parked on the street a block or so away.

What a wonderful and elevated dining experience. They have the best short rubs dish... it was creative and tasty. Meat was perfect, complemented w crispy rice and kimchi... surprisingly the flavors work and elevate. If you are a foody... this spot is essential!
This place rocks. What a gem.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. We upgraded the 4 course meal to 7 and had a wine pairing with each course. It was absolutely decadent but so worth it. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional. Each of the courses was creative and interesting, and most of the wine pairings were intentional and added brightness and complexity to the experience.
The owners Joe and Jenny (I believe) were warm and welcoming. They made us feel like honored guests, which was such a nice treat.

The restaurant was very good. The food was good and the waitress pleasant. The red wine selection could have been better. All were very high in tannins. However, the parking situation was a disaster. There was only one parking garage nearby. The majority of slots were marked reserved. The public parking was limited and it was very confusing as to where we could park. Thank goodness noone got towed.
This place is brilliant addition to the Richmond food scene! We had dinner on a Saturday, taking advantage of the weekend happy hour. We had all 4 of the HH small plates, doubling up on the duck dumplings. The main course, braised short rib, was an absolute flavor bomb - wow. Everything was delicious, with more highly developed flavors and textures than typically found in RVA restaurants. Service was great but the decor was disappointing. Our biggest complaint is the annoying lighting - overhead spotlights should be reserved for jewelry stores. We returned for my birthday, this time we also tried the salmon (succulent) and the Bourbon Chocolate Chess Pie was amazing. I noted that the spotlights were toned down a bit, much appreciated!

Kudos to Chef Joe and the team for a truly unique experience that you’d expect to get in NYC or DC, not in Richmond.
I brought my wife for the 4 course tasting menu for her birthday. The food was fresh, creative and most important of all, delicious. I appreciated they were able to accommodate a vegetarian tasting menu that was still filling and satisfying. I really enjoyed the intentionality of Chef Joe coming out and explaining each dish to us. While this is clearly a high end place, the food is approachable and delicious. You can feel the passion and love in it! Front of house was great and the overall experience was just awesome. My wife said it felt like she was having dinner in an art gallery! We will absolutely be back.

My wife and I were in Richmond travelling from Philadelphia and chanced upon Trouvaille for dinner. From the pleasant residential street location to the artful and intimate decor, to the friendliness of servers, and owners/chef Joe and Jenny, it was a great dining experience. Food was wonderful, and we've eaten at many well-regarded restaurants. Highly recommended.

Been here twice and the food is consistently excellent. I appreciate the dark, cozy vibe and most importantly the QUIET. It's so nice to be able to have a good meal and talk to your dining companions without screaming in their faces. Try the duck tostada, steak tartare, and duck breast!

We stopped in Thursday for a drink & to check out the place. Nicely decorated, friendly staff. Joe & Jenny are so kind. We split the stuffed pepper appetizer. So yummy. Jenny mixed up some good cocktails. Their host (I should have asked her name) confirmed our family dinner reservations for Sunday. I’m sure Trouvaille will not disappoint.

Went in for the first time on this warm Tuesday evening and was immediately greeted with brisk a/c and a helpful host.
We made our way to the bar for libations and light bites. The happy hour snacks were perfect appeTEASERs. I mean this in a good way. We had the arancini (2pcs) and the duck dumplings (2pc). Both dishes were packed with flavor. Perfectly crisp arancini over a wildly interesting strawberry gochujang sauce, 10/10. The duck dumplings were delicate and savory; the duck broth complemented swimmingly without stealing the show. 10/10. Both dishes jump started our palates. (No time for pictures)
For entrees we decided on the crispy duck leg and the seafood pasta. My partner and I have been craving duck ever since the closing of the oyster society in Petersburg. This dish was not a miss. Nice crunch even after being topped with the tomato pan sauce. The brioche was incredibly intuitive in this plate: I used it to sponge up all of the drippings. 10/10
Seafood Pasta: 5 nice sized pieces of shrimp accompanied by hand pulled crab in a creamy miso sauce. The fettuccine was cooked well, carrying the sauce tightly. Then surprise, there was corn! Awesome, 10/10, will do again.
She needed a box, I needed a nap.
We were gifted a beignet with maple ice cream and a chicken skin topper. Salty, sweet, crunchy. Holy smokes! Something to write home about.
Needless to say this will be a regular spot of ours.
Great service, very cool atmosphere, a staff that just “gets it”.
Parking can be a drag but we learned there’s a deck a block away. We probably should have walked this meal off anyway.

Absolutely amazing experience. From walking in and being greeted to the final goodbyes from the staff. I didn’t have a single drop of food that I didn’t like. Adrienne was incredible along with all of the staff! We even got to chat with Joe who is the chef and owner. He and his partner and their entire team deserve all of the praise bc the food is tremendous. You MUST visit here! Our table got the dumplings, bread basket, steak tartare, duck, pasta, filet… drinks… the list goes on! I will definitely be back and bring everyone I know! Thank you for our great dinner! It’s rare we get to out on the town anymore and this meal was 1000% worth it!
