American food and service here is better than most. entered near eleven, it wasn't packed. there was quick, helpful, and friendly service. this place has a good atmosphere. food is like a restaurant in louisville i liked.

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. The only reason they're getting an extra star is because my waitress was really nice. The vegan cauliflower steak was burnt cauliflower with Thai sauce on top, it wasn't cooked properly or seasoned properly. The other food that was prepared(crab cakes, shrimp linguine, vegan pesto pasta) was all bland. Overall the food was horrible and I could've made better food from my own kitchen!! The restaurant was empty so I should have been more inclined to leave upon entering.

The owner and the chef at this establishment is extremely RACIST and disrespectful. The chef got our order wrong TWICE and tried to still charge us. The owner made extremely snide comments and folds us we better sit there and eat it. I was appalled and disgusted. I hate to have spend a penny in this place. The chef then kicked us out and to never come back. Trust that will not be a problem. Please if you’re POC do not eat here.

The food was mediocre and I honestly would have rather spent my money at a fast food place. If you don't like your food expect to still pay for it even if the chef/ waiter is at fault. The management is disrespectful and she racially profiles. Would give the experience no stars if I could.

I went to Xtra's cafe Saturday night for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have happy hour seven days a week with good discounts on drafts and cocktails. They have a good drink menu and the food looked pretty good as well. I dabbled with the chips and salsa as well as the pigs in a blanket but did not dive in any further than that. The chips were delicious and had a crisp quality which I really admired. The pigs in a blanket weren't bad at all. It was pretty crowded for a Saturday night so the service was a little slow and that was my only real complaint. I am interested in going back to try a full meal.

The management doesn’t respect the customer. If you dislike something they are told you NEED to eat it and pay for it. That is not a way to speak to a customer who is willing to pay!! VERY rude and unprofessional! The worst part is they record their customers in the restroom!! No respect for people or privacy, absolutely POOR customer service!!! ZERO stars if you ask me! Learn how to RESPECT people and how to manage your temper before trying to manage an establishment!!!

Disastrous Brunch Experience The mark of a good restaurant is not necessarily its size, but the quality of its food and the generosity of its staff. Along that line, I've experienced fine dining experiences throughout Richmond and in the Cary town area, Xtras Cafe has not been one of them them. To say the least the interior of the establishment is dark and dim. The utensils appear to have missed dishwashing. Although there are never many customers, wait time always exceeds 20 minutes or longer. However, I took the chance on the account of being in the presence of good company. My date ordered a create your own omelette with a side order of Brussels. A pitcher of mimosas and a hummus plate. I decided the Brussels looked good, so I asked for a side order of Brussels glazed with honey. When my Brussels were presented, they appeared bright green and undercooked, unlike my dates, charcoaled and crispy. I mentioned this to the server and the cook personally came out to explain, since I wanted them glazed in honey they had to be cooked differently. He offered to make me a new batch free of charge, I replied no thank you I'm already a bit full. I requested that my server just take the 4.00$ Brussels off the bill. The owner brought my check out and said she will not take the Brussels off the check and we will pay for it. I replied, why I was not pleased and did not begin to eat them. The owner laughed and shrugging shoulders replied I don't Care ! I was taking off guard by this unprofessional reply but what happened next was horrific ! I went to use the bathroom before splitting the check and the owner followed me into the bathroom with her phone. I was using the bathroom and through the crack of the stall I see the store owner standing with her phone recording me! I came out the bathroom and asked, why are you recording me while I am in the bathroom. She stated, I do not want you to clog up my toilets. I was appalled by this statement as I am not a juvenile but a professional woman. I replied, I now feel like you have a personal problem with me. She stated just leave my restaurant. I said I feel very uncomfortable that you recorded me in the bathroom. The cook came and asked the store owner to put her phone down. She finally put her phone down and we left. I have never had such a horrible experience. Furthermore, I have never been met in a bathroom stall and harassed! Avoid going to this establishment! There are better places to eat in Richmond!

XTRAs Cafe Hello #RVA please make this go viral...please share it...ban #XtrasCafe Today, I went on a nice brunch date to XTRAs cafe, I've gone for years...and never had a problem to this magnitude. I ordered a CYO omelette with a side of Brussels sprouts and my date ordered a hummus plate (she's vegan). Eventually my date ordered some Brussels sprouts as well with our server because mine looked very tasty, they were charred and fried and she just asked for honey glaze on top of her order. When she received her meal the looked bright green and under cooked so she didn't like the taste of them and asked our server to take them off the ticket. The chef came from the back to explain that if he added honey glaze to them they would have burned, so he boiled them instead of frying them. He did ask if we wanted him to remake them, "free of charge". She thanked him for the gesture and kindly said "no thank you, I rather just leave them off the check I'm getting full anyway." He said "okay no problem. " Moments later the manager comes out, not our server who could have told us the policy (shaking while approaching us mind you) saying "I'm not taking this off the bill, you ordered it, we made it, you need to eat it." My date calmly explained what happened and what the chef stated to us. She also explained that she didn't even eat it. The manager had the nerve to reply while laughing and shrugging "well I don't care what you have to say or think" she brought us out the check and further stated "I expect you to pay this bill" I stepped in to say "ma'am you don't have to be rude there are other ways you can approach the situation to explain your policy but to state "I don't care" is very rude when we are paying customers" she replied back to me "I don't care what you think. You will pay your bill and leave". Blown away and irate at this point I asked for who is above her just for her to state that she is the OWNER of this establishment. Admittedly I contemplated even paying for the bill because I felt like she was very out of line so I sat and thought about it. While thinking, the chef comes back to the table with a new check with the bill adjusted with the Brussels sprouts taken off. I thanked him and before I could finish my sentence he says "next time don't order something custom made and not like it and then raise hell about having to pay for it". At this point I'm furious however the bill was adjusted so I let the snide comment go. My date went to use the restroom before we were about to split the check. While in the bathroom she called me to state that the owner followed her inside FILMING HER and saying "don't go clogging up my toilets" threw the cracks of the bathroom stall (the audacity) I was on the phone with my mother to keep me level headed at the unjust actions that were occurring. My date came out the stall and I see the woman making gestures to her and begin filming her. So I took my phone out too to address her filming her in the restroom. The chef came back out as if we were wrong because my date stated that she felt harassed . In the video you hear him telling his boss "I got this" before we were asked to leave and never return. Customer service is extremely poor. The staff working 11/10/19 were very unprofessional and aggressive. They harsssed two guests and followed one to the bathroom. An older, white woman claiming to be the owner filmed one of the guests while using the restroom. She was very irate & the situation could and should have been handled better. I'm truly appalled. I will never support this business again.
