Our first time here did not disappoint. We shared the lamb meatball appetizer and realized we should have ordered the house bread so as not to miss a drop of the delicious sauce. My husband had risotto with prosciutto and I had the pasta which house made fennel sausage. They were both very good. We ordered tiramisu to split for dessert and it was not the classic style. Service was very good and attentive. Tables are spaced so you do not hear conversations. We will be back.

The Lumache al Forno was delicious and a really big serving. The cocktails were really good - a fun twist on classic cocktails and the bartender was not skimpy on the liquor. The star of the show was the lamb meatball pizza as we haven't had anything like that before. The service was great and our food came out in a good time without us feeling rushed at all.

Great small bar to have an excellent cocktail and great food.Stopped by for a drink and small bites. Have not been here before, pleasantly surprised.AtmosphereVery small inside, but a cozy feel. Full bar, and small tables, perfect for couples or small groups. Sat at the bar, ordered drinks and appetizers. The food is the same menu from Fortunato need door, a very good Italian kitchen and Neapolitan pizza restaurant. That was packed (Friday at 7pm), so if you don’t have reservations, this gets you the same.ServiceOutstanding! The young woman who was tending bar was excellent…knew everything about the menu, and was attentive yet not intrusive. Best part was when I asked is she could make a traditional daiquiri (shaken, neat in a coupe glass). This is a sticky point at most bars these days as most often the bartenders have no idea how to make something like this, even though it’s been around for years. However she said it was a favorite of hers, and served me a perfectly made, delicious daiquiri. Also made my wife an excellent old fashioned…well done!FoodWe ordered a couple antipasti off the menu, Lamb meatballs and Formaggi, both were amazing. The meatballs were delicious, spiced perfectly, in a tasty marinara and cheese sauce. The Formaggi was also delicious, 3 small cheese varieties, with bread, artichokes, and an amazing Mostarda, which is similar to a chutney but made with fruit, in this case we were informed, strawberries. Outstanding flavor to all our food, and the two appetizers were perfect for a light meal.Only very small down for us was the music was a bit loud, and sometimes a little too frantic. Yes, sigh…we are older, and always are aware of loud music! It wasn’t overwhelming, or we would have not stayed, but that would be our only small critique.Very much enjoyed our visit!Would I go back…absolutelyWould I recommend…most definitely

wonderful food, made with great local ingredients, and very thoughtful presentations. The portions are good also. Especially liked the eggplant, which is new to me on the menu. Very much a gathering place with an active bar. See and be seen. Too noisy for an intimate dining experience. Otherwise excellent !

Been to Fortunato many times over the years and the food quality is always great and consistent, with new items added and staples remaining on the menu. The cocktails are always great too!

I ordered the roasted branzino whole fish, tbh, it was the best bass I've ever tasted! My compliments tot he cook. Very nice place, not too noisy, quiet. The prices are good, the setting was so so. It's more of a cafe style than a romantic place to eat as it is small. Really happy I tried this restaurant for the first time.

Fortunato delivers a great selection of Italian dishes - house made pasta with great sauces, pizza fired in a very hot oven, along with antipasta, incredible salads and vegetable sides, and entrees. Gluten free selection is good in spite in addition to all the great bread and pasta available. The vibe of the room is lively, yet it's easy to hear conversation at the table. Service is great. Highly recommend.

We had another fabulous dinner at Fortunato Saturday night. Everything was cooked to perfection. We had the Branzino fish, the duck Ragu pasta, the pork chop, the risotto with asparagus and salads. We all enjoyed our dinners. We love the ambience here. We love the friendliness of the servers. Thanks again to the chef and the servers for a wonderful dining experience.

We always love this place. Amazing on point food, great service, standards we love and some new items in the mix too. It's an always on place you can definitely count on. Pizza, pasta, oh and the wine and cocktails. Wonderful place.

Excellent bar and wait staff with a great selection of unique cocktails and wines. A fine range of dining options all very reasonably priced make for a delightful dining experience

Had an enjoyable evening out during a business dinner. Atmosphere was 5 star! Service was almost 5 star, however we did feel a bit rushed in getting our food order in before we were even served our cocktails. The food was very good and we will return on our next visit to Roanoke!

Our server was friendly, attentive and considerate. There when he was needed, funny and also careful to not disturb the table when it wasn't necessary. The food was delicious, beautiful and prepared surprisingly quickly. The carbonara in particular was simple (as it should be) but perfectly cooked and seasoned. We'll be back soon.

Excellent! The food was good as always. However, the real thing that set this particular Fortunato experience apart was the service. Gwen was absolutely excellent-attentive without being overwhelming, kept our wine/water topped up at all times, and was overall just a bubbly personality.

As always, Fortunato was wonderful. We had a new server Gwen and she was a 10 out of 10. Orders were prompt, correct and food was so tasty. Can't say anything bad about our experience.

Had not visited this restaurant in a while and was pleasantly surprised. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Food was excellent, especially the grilled branzino (fish). The salamedi di choccolato desert was also excellent. Best shortbread I've had anywhere. The chocolate wafer had just the right hint of orange. Will put this place on my regular list of restaurants to frequent. Great location because it's just down the street from its sister restaurant, Lucky's. Had to stop in there for a night cap and visit Kent and Taylor, the best bartenders in Roanoke.
