Tonight they had a man carding at the front door. A customer came up already with a bad attitude. He didn't want to be carded and was insulted for he had been coming here for years. The gentleman minding the door whose name was Chris handled it very calmly with no attitude even though the guy calmed he didn't like Chris's attitude. the customer was clear trying to start something but only received politeness. I saw that same guy trying to start it up with another gentleman watching the door. Great job to Chris. He was also nice enough to stop and chat with me and do his job. I was the only one sitting outside it was nice to be acknowledged. Thanks“

“I was expecting the meal to be good, but not THAT good. Everything was outstanding. The chili crisp burrata was a must-get appetizer as well as the roasted olives which were so warm and buttery… chefs kiss. Both pasta dishes we got were perfectly cooked, brilliantly flavored, and proportioned beautifully.
Also a huge shoutout to the bar for having $5 mocktails! The bartenders made me the most delicious mocktail I may have ever had.“

“My sisters and I went out for a girls night during restaurant week. Initially, I was really irritated by the hostess Diana, she was very offputting. One of my sisters went to check the bar area and she went after her and told her to come back, which is crazy to me. We're not children. We know how to observe, look around and see if there are seats available and return to the hostess stand if we are unable to find a place. We almost walked out. She said there wasn't a table available for us and next thing you know here comes Macie (sp.?) to save the day. She was amazing!! She quickly said there's a table available here and pointed behind her. She was one of the best servers I've ever experienced in all of my years of dining out. She was knowledgeable. She was attentive. She was kind. She was personable and she was funny. Thanks to Macie we had the best start to our girls night out.“

“You will not find better. This is the best Chinese-American cuisine I have ever had, hands-down. I have never, in the 22 years of dining on this delicious food, ever had a bad meal or a messed up order. They are consistent and have always been even more than generous with the servings. “I’ll start by saying we frequented BitS for many years largely due to convenience and price point. After awhile, we quit going in because of poor quality across the board. We are very pleased with the changes in the food and set up after a recent change in ownership. I prefer the ability to order from my seat vs standing in line. The buns are no longer soggy and fries are perfectly crispy. We received a warm welcome and excellent service this evening from a gentleman (uncertain of his name, but KD was on our receipt) despite a full restaurant. This young man is a valuable asset to the team and we will continue to return. Please give them a try!!“

The breakfast menu isn’t the standard diner lineup. There’s some creativity here. The biscuits are the headline: flaky, substantial, clearly made with care (and lard-the right way). The grits were creamy, well-seasoned, and exactly what you hope for in the South.

But the food isn’t the only reason to stop by. The staff treats you like you’ve been coming in for years.

If I lived in Roanoke, this would be a regular place.“

“The absolute best place. Starr Hill in Roanoke is the friendliest best brewery in town. Since hiring Shannon things have totally turned around for the better. Shannon, Donovan, Rafe and George are the best of the best staff anywhere, they are like friends you have always had. Everytime you walk in they call you by name and make you feel so very welcome. Matter of fact I was in there the other day, sitting alone and was invited to join a few others at the bar. After making new friends I left several hours and lots of beer later, had a blast and made new friends. There is always something for everyone and you don’t have to do it all. Pick and choose what you want, you are never excluded. Not everything is for all but so much variety, never a dull moment. Beer and company is the best in town. It’s a “Place where everyone knows your name” just like to show “Cheers”. It will always be my go to community place to unwind. Thanks for ALWAYS making things so much fun.“

Well 4 hours later when I got home I lost it all. Kept me all night and still suffering; now I'm thinking the dressing i tasted wasn't as fresh? Highly disappointed that when i called ahead of time to ask if they had a dessert table, was told No. We had a party of 10 for a birthday celebration, so I brought a cake. When it was time to have our cake, i was told it would be a $1.00 a plate charge to have a dessert plate. Extremely turned off about that. Ruined our birthday celebration. Idk? Is this a thing? Never ever have heard of a plate fee.“

“Our first time having lunch at Wasabi's and were very impressed. We love sushi and are always looking for good restaurants so we'll be coming back again. The quality of the fish was extremely high. “This review is LONG overdue as I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over ten years, maybe even fifteen actually. I have always been greeted by respectful staff and grown to really feel like they’re family to me. I tend to always order the same things when I come (spicy beef bowl), yet it’s those favorite items that keep me coming back. The atmosphere is quiet, could use perhaps an update in ways, but none of these things take away from the authenticity of the food. The vegetables and herbs always taste fresh, the store that’s connected is really convenient for grabbing a snack or even some candy on the way out, and I personally really liked the nail supplies that used to be available as I’m a nail technician. Some may have found it odd, yet it was a win-win for others. I never have to wait long to receive my order and the waiter always checks back in often. I witnessed a customer come inside today and disrespect a young man that was working at the counter. He demanded a menu from him to take next door so that him and two other people could view it before placing an order. The young man explained to him that he could not do that. The man became outraged saying very loudly that he wanted to speak to an ADULT. Mind you, this young man was in fact, an adult. His father stated that he could not take a menu with him as the menu was available online (previous people had taken menus and never returned them). As a result the young man was deeply disrespected and so was his father. Both kept their composure and remained respectful despite the older man’s harsh threats to put them out of business. I will forever cherish this family owned restaurant and defend their reputation in any way possible. They’re wonderful people and deserve to respected just like every other person in America. Thank you Pho Vietnam for always being a place of comfort and peace when I’m just wanting a nice meal and somewhere to decompress.“

Another commenter complained about the hush puppies?? These are THE BEST FRESHEST CRISPEST DELICIOUS hush puppies!! In our opinion that is unbelievably inaccurate! They have a cozy little bar to sit at also. The restaurant itself is definitely in need of a makeover…. No question. They seem to do a very good business with lots of regulars. If ambience is critical, (it is for us), then we completely recommend takeout (pickup) which they do a wonderful job at!!“
