Great service with attentive staff. Cocktails were really good, especially the Old Fashioned. The menu is impressive and the food tasted great! Get the Belgian waffle bread pudding. You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to go back.

My daughter and I were converging on the area from other states for some Hokie madness, and we’re gluten free for medical issues. We were late into the evening but were well welcomed and never felt rushed. Food was fantastic! I’m bringing my husband back the next time we come through the area.

Dietary restrictions: Many, many gluten free options!

Ate here with my spouse on Friday. We do a fair amount of fine dining. He said it was the best dinner he's had in Roanoke (I can already hear the Salem people laughing at this comment). He had the beef. I had the salmon. Salmon came out perfect- just really well executed. Creme brulee was great. We had 3 cocktails and really like 2/3. Service was solid. We'll be back. Thanks again for taking us as a walk-in.

I had an amazing experience with my family at Brood restaurant! The staff is incredibly friendly, making you feel right at home. The view is absolutely wonderful, especially if you arrive before 7 p.m. to catch the sunset. It's charming to see the owner and his family working together to create such a welcoming atmosphere. The food is simply fantastic, and the garlic pizza is a must-try. Highly recommended!"

Celebratory dinner with old friends and choosing Brood was the absolute right choice. We had salads (house, Caesar, and Brussel sprouts), the scallops, the salmon, and the braised short ribs. Our waiter Jackson recommended an excellent wine and the wizard at the bar made the most perfect classic martini. It was a lovely evening - hope we can do it again soon.

I ate here on my birthday and it turns out it was also the one year restaurant birthday as well. Such a beautifully appointed space with a lovely host and server. I had the short ribs which were cooked to perfection. I ordered the Old Fashioned to start and when I needed just a slight adjustment the server knew exactly what it needed. A warm, yet sophisticated spot that hit all the right notes on a special day for me and the restaurant.

My husband and I had dinner at Brood last night and it was wonderful. I had the Chicken Shnitzel and it is possibly the best chicken I have ever had. My husband had the salmon and said it was fantastic as well. Delicious!!! We highly recommend Brood for their food, service AND atmosphere.

We live in Salem, and this was our first time here on a Thursday with 8:30 pm reservations.
I got the short ribs with cheddar mashed and broccoli with parmesan (a little high priced for the amount of food). Food was great tasting, though.
My husband (his birthday) got Chicken Schnitzel, which he loved, and was priced well.
Complimentary dessert for my husband's birthday was the Crème Brûlée, which was fabulous (with some extra "crumbles" on top); they also gave my husband a Thank You card.
The only deterrent was the noise. The only other guests was a large party of about 16 or so, which was extremely loud. I could hear what people were talking about from the opposite end of their table. The restaurant is long and narrow with high ceilings and no sound boards. The acoustics in this restaurant need to be remedied before I would think about going back. I cannot imagine how noisy it would have been if the other tables were full (probably could seat another 60 or more people). If you are spending this kind of money for a nice dinner out, there should be a better expectation of atmosphere.
