Went for an early Valentine’s dinner and everything was amazing! We tried the scallops as well as the short rib and schnitzel, and it was all incredible. The belgian waffle bread pudding was also delicious. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy. Looking forward to going back!!

Thisxwas a beautiful gem we thankfully discovered as we were traveling north on 81. We stopped in Salem VA for the night and we're glad we chose Brood Restaurant. The scallops appetizer was perfectly prepared! It is a must have!
We both got the braised shortribs. Again, it was perfect! Our waiter was gracious and very attentive and well versed on the menu.
Make sure you can take some time to enjoy this place!

The food was absolutely delicious. I got the crab and grits which tasted amazing, but it was a little lukewarm. This was likely due to them bringing the food out at the same time, so it might’ve been waiting for a while as we had a very large party. It take a while to get the food, again likely because of our large party. I was a little disappointed that there was no bread to eat while waiting. The little plates on the table really made me think there would be bread. I also finished my food very quickly because I was so hungry from waiting and expected a bit of a larger serving (just from my past experience of getting grits at restaurants). The server came to check on us and exclaimed “oh” when he saw I was already finished 😳. The water was delicious, definitely the best restaurant water I’ve had before. It was spring water, carbonated and non carbonated, and came in fancy bottles. Overall the restaurant was a great experience and not too expensive for being so cute and fancy and having such good food. I will definitely eat here again (probably more slowly next time😳) and would recommend.

We discovered this restaurant earlier this year and it has since become a favorite staple. We've eaten there 8 times in the last few months. Recommend it highly. Great food, great cocktails. Notable mentions for the creamed kale, which has a lovely spice, and the collard greens. Coffee ice cream is to die for.

Food and drinks were delicious! Only issue we had was they forgot to bring us our appetizer before our meal. However, they apologized, brought it to us after we finished our meal, and even removed it from our bill without us asking. That's how you keep customers! We will definitely be returning!!

Brood has quickly become one of our favorite spots in Downtown Salem. The décor strikes the perfect balance between cute and classy, and the overall atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and just upscale enough for a special night out without feeling stuffy. We’ve tried several dishes — the shrimp and grits, chicken schnitzel, beef short ribs, and steak and frites. The shrimp and grits and short ribs were a bit on the heavier side for my taste, but the steak and frites and chicken schnitzel are absolutely fantastic — easily our favorites so far! I’m still on a mission to work my way through the rest of the menu, while my husband remains loyal to his schnitzel. The cocktails are always spot-on. My husband loves their Old Fashioned, and I’ve fallen in love with their gin cocktails, especially the Bee’s Knees and Out of Office — both beautiful and perfectly balanced. Every drink we’ve had has been consistently delicious and served at the perfect temperature. A special shoutout to Colton, who has crafted our drinks each visit. He truly understands the art of the perfect cocktail — thoughtful, balanced, and made with care every time. Overall, Brood delivers a wonderful dining and cocktail experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy yet elevated evening out in Salem!
