If AMAZING was a sandwich 🄪 this would be it!!! This was my first time here at this establishment and will definitely not be my last!!! Excellent service, amazing flavors and just an all around great environment to enjoy your food. 10/10 for me. If I could give them 10 āļø I would. A rare gem šŸ’Ž that you won’t find just anywhere.

Wife and I try to go at least once a week. At one time, the New Yorker was my go to sub shop. No more!! Joe knows how to put a sandwich together.

Joe’s Deli in Salem is a rare find—a New York-ish style deli experience tucked away in southwest Virginia. Joe makes his own corned beef & pastrami, and coleslaw fresh every day— and it’s all absolutely legit.

My credentials; born and raised in Philly for 45 years, Jewish parents from Queens NY, so I promise I know the real thing when I taste it.

Having been granted permission by Joe on one of my many stops in just buying meat by the pound and taking it home to make my own sandwiches, I brought Joe in a proper Jewish marble rye from Wegmans in Richmond (like a Schnitzer’s) because let’s be real, the local rye bread game around here is nonexistent, and Joe made me a cold sandwich that absolutely crushed the mark: thin-sliced corned beef piled high, crunchy slaw with just the perfect amount of sweetness, and some T.I.

It’s called a ā€œcorned beef specialā€.
Simple. Perfect. Pure deli soul.

This place is built on pride, flavor, and tradition. Joe gets it. If you know, you know.
Thanks my dude šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™‡šŸ»

Great sandwiches. Tons of meat. Cashiers have been helpful the few times I've been. I'll be back.

Had to venture out of Roanoke in search of a good sandwich shop and found this gem. Really great subs! Sandwiches are heavy with generous portions of meat. The owner is really nice. Keeps a clean shop and serves a great product for the price point. The pasta, potatoe, and chicken salad are also phenomenal.

Joes Deli is best in the area for a good, authentic deli sandwich. Ordering online couldn’t be easier and eliminates any waiting. I highly recommend this sandwich shop and the online ordering platform! Great takeout option for group lunches.

Joe really helped us out after our caterer flaked out last minute before our wedding. I reached out to him and he was excited to help! It wasn’t like we had a small wedding, we threw 100 headcount out there and he got even more excited! He was kind enough to help us plan out our menu and he gave us a great deal. Everyone at our wedding raved over his Macaroni salad and his turkey subs were gone in a flash!

I can’t believe that I have lived in this area for over seven years now and last night was my very first Joe’s Deli experience. I had the corned beef Reuben, which I split with my friend Steve because… well because it is a BIG sandwich (this I gathered from reading reviews) and we weren’t going home for some time, so leftovers weren’t an option. I am definitely a corned beef Reuben snob and I’m so tired of going to places that profess to have the best, and yet it is fatty corned beef served on insignificant bread with way too little sauerkraut. The corned beef on our sandwich was almost absurdly, thin and lean, and tasted like nothing I’ve ever had. It was pure joy to consume! My elderly father who eats like a bird, got the hot ham and cheese and polished off the entire thing saying between every third bite that he’s never tasted a better sandwich in his life, and at 91 years of age, that’s saying something! We had the pleasure of having Joe himself leave the kitchen to come check on us. We had a lovely conversation with him and promised to take him up on his offer to come back after a few tweaks to the adjoining new space have been completed and beer has been added to the drink menu!

Joe is such a sweet and amazing guy The food here is amazing I stopped in for a New York pastrami on a rye , and it was nothing less than what I imagined

Great take-out sandwich shop. I get either the Turkey Shoot or the NY Pastrami - absolutely giant sandwiches loaded with meat. Easily large enough for 2 people. I take half the meat off and make another sandwich at home later.
