WOW, My wife and I had lunch at Backwoods BBQ and this was a total surprise. we had pulled pork and the Brisket meals which just blew us away. The hickory smoke flavor is great, moist, just the perfect amount of sauce made for the best sandwich I have ever eaten and I am 70 years old. You will not regret dinning here but you will regret not taking some home with you. We met the owners and were very impressed. We will go back.

The customer service is excellent.. was greeted by the gentleman at the cashier he was knowledgeable about the menu and actually even went ahead to give me a 1st time customer discount.. the food was great i had the brisket and the portions were great as well.. Definitely coming back to try more menu items

The food was great! The brisket was tender with a good smoke flavor, and even the mac ’n’ cheese had a nice hint of smoke. I wish I had dined in—Tavon was an excellent host who rang in my order. He was down-to-earth and had that hometown conversation feel. It’s too hard to find that these days. I hope to be back soon!

The ribs are like rubber but the mac & cheese is really good

Some of the best bbq I've had abroad. Nice smoke flavor. Generous portions. Very tender. Cabbage was delicious as well. Definitely will be back. Hospitality was awsome. Nice young man working the front was friendly. 💯

Just came from an amazing lunch with my 3 kids..... The food was outstanding, the service was great and the atmosphere was very easy going with great blues music! Not your average fast food barbecue, this is the real thing... good, tasty, and the best smoked flavor! Right across from the airport, easy to get to..... Will be back often!

Great to have good smokey BBQ East of Richmond! My favorite is the brisket and I have been very happy with the cornbread and sides. There is a good vibe from the employees abd I enjoy the blues music.

Small and unassuming storefront hides a massive amount of deliciousness! I got the meat sampler which was huge. Pulled pork, brisket, shredded chicken, beef roast were some of the best I’ve ever had. Ribs were a dry rub smoked and not my favorite. Others got the brisket dinner and pulled pork dinner and were very pleased. House bbq sauce is a new favorite! We all shared sides…all homemade and really good. All of us became instant fans of the baked beans and the cucumber salad. Desserts looked delicious but none of us could eat anymore. Service rivaled the food in excellence. Staff were so welcoming and genuinely glad we were there. This place is a must-add to your dinner out rotation!

Went to Backwoodz on June 21,2025. We got the All Meat Platter with cabbage and mac &cheese, brisket sandwich with fries and smoke wings. I gave the 1 star for the smoked wings and fries. Brisket wasn’t brisket, it was roast beef with bbq sauce. The pulled chicken dry, pulled pork taste day old, ribs garbage, cabbage watered down and Mac and cheese mid. I’ve eaten bbq all over the country and this was horrible. SALT. LAWRY helps. The worst bbq I’ve ever tasted. Pure Rubbish. I would never return.
