Everything had so much flavor, from the seasoning on the tortilla chips to the salsas and food overall. The birria fries were amazing and almost reminded me of poutine. The Maya salad was huge and the empanadas were good both hot and cold as well (as a snack later). Tequila and micheladas were perfect!

We accidentally stumbled room Maya's Latin Kitchen on a Taco Tuesday and were definitely not disappointed! The tacos and margaritas were delicious, the staff were very friendly, and the chips & salsa were phenomenal.

I never write reviews based on one bad experience because I don’t take lightly giving someone a bad reputation that could poorly impact their business. Sadly, I feel it necessary to break that rule if I can save one person from our experience. We are a family of 8, we have 6 children. When time to order our food I asked the waiter if they had an option for a kids taco with rice and beans. The waiter said he would doublecheck. There seemed to possibly be a language barrier. He came back and said sure he could do two tacos, rice, and beans to which I confirmed that he meant from the kids menu as in kids price. He said yes he could do that. We waited a very long time for our check. In fact, we had to ask for it. Our waiter didn’t seem overly busy, but maybe he just thought we needed more time. To be honest that part wasn’t the part that bothered me. When our check came it was $157 which even for a family as big as ours that is very pricey. We ordered two drinks. Our kids got all waters and we did not order anything, besides each person had gotten a meal. When I looked at the four kids meals we were charged $60 for them. They all got the same taco meal. They looked like kid meals because they had very little meat without cheese. Considering their kids meals range from $5.99 to $7.99, I asked our waiter why the four kids meals tallied out to about $15 each, which by the way is more than several of the adult meal options. He said yeah that’s what the tacos cost. He goes and gets a young lady to come to our table. She explains that they really don’t have kids meals that they’re looking to get some in the future, but that’s not something they have put into place currently. I told her that I think this has been one big miscommunication. I kindly and respectfully let her know that they do have kids meals because they have a kids meal menu and I told her that I had simply asked the waiter would it be possible to have a kids meal of a beef taco with rice and beans. I explained to her that our waiter said he would go ask management. He came back to our table and said he had asked and it was fine. I even confirmed that it would be at a kids meal price and he told me yes. She then left to get someone else. Next an older older gentleman came to our table. He asked what our problem was. Could we not afford the tacos. So of course, I re-explained our entire situation. It wasn’t that we couldn’t afford the tacos, although paying $15 per plate for children was not in our budget. But the problem was that we were miscommunicated too. I would’ve gladly had our children pick a meal that was on their kids menu but since the waiter, we believed was kind enough to check on whether our kids could get a very common Mexican meal of a beef taco, rice, and beans we believed him when he told us we could. The gentleman that I’m assuming was the manager said well obviously his hands were mostly tied because we had already eaten the food. Well, of course we had already eaten the food we had been sitting at the table and had been done for a good while before we were even given our check. The problem was that we trusted our waiter to do what he had said. There was no reason we shouldn’t have been able to eat our food believing that he was going to honor what he had told us. The manager said that the most he could do was to take 25% off of the bill, which I do appreciate. However, that still was much more pricier than we would’ve paid if we would’ve simply ordered from the kids menu to begin with. Customer service means a lot to our family. We always try to be kind to people and have good communication and we don’t want to be difficult customers and we know that no one is perfect. However, we feel like the service we were offered today was not good. Restaurants that run on honesty, integrity, and good customer service will be businesses that we choose to support. Sad to say we will not be returning and felt taken advantage of today.

What a gem! Fantastic spot for great Latin food that is a little different from your typical fare. The Birria Tacos and empanadas were excellent. The yucca fries are an instant hit as well. Our server, Mateo, did a fantastic job and was very attentive.
We came in on a holiday, so it was busier than usual during this time, but you’d never know it. Food was hot and fresh, and came out very quickly. Cannot recommend this place enough!

This was my first time coming here and the experience was great! The salsa and chips are different than any Mexican restaurant I have eaten at. I ate the whole basket by myself lol
I enjoyed all of my food. The birria tacos was very flavorful and the queso dip was a great addition to my meal. Jonathan was my server and he was such a sweetheart. I will be back soon.

Since moving to VA from Texas I have searched for an authentic Mexican restaurant and that search finally ended today! Everything we ordered was truly delicious and tasted just like my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. This will be my family’s go-to Mexican restaurant from now on.
