We eat here regularly and the food is always excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It’s become one of our go-to spots for sushi. Highly recommend!

I am a fan of unagi (eel), so when a friend recommended Taiko Sushi I had to start with their unagi domburi (eel over sushi rice).
It is simply the best unagi domburi I have ever had in the DC area.
It was $30, but the portion size was generous and it came with several small sides such as Japanese pickles and seaweed salad. I'm glad I didn't buy an appetizer, or I wouldn't have been able to eat it all.

I recently ordered takeout at Taiko and spent over $135 on what was overall a weak meal—sushi was pretty good, hibachi steak was terrible, and the soup had leaked through the bag. However, what left a sour taste in my mouth (pun intended) was being charged extra for a small side of sauces.
After spending that much, you'd think a small amount of yum yum sauce could be comped—especially when restaurants pride themselves on hospitality and customer satisfaction. It wasn’t about the extra $3.50; it was the principle.
Unfortunately, what could’ve been a glowing review is dampened by this nickel-and-diming approach. If you're going to price your meals at a premium, the customer experience should reflect that generosity—not feel like you're squeezing out every last dollar.
I hope management reconsiders these small policies that leave a big impression. Especially given the fact that the previous owner, Tony, knew everyone by name and truly cared about the customer experience.

Not a great sushi place considering all the rest that are around. Not a lot of variety of fish, fish wasn’t particularly fresh, and portions weren’t particularly big. Consider going elsewhere.

Forgot to take pictures of everything we ate but this is our favorite sushi in VA. We’ve been coming here for years and the quality stays the same if not better. We usually get miso soup, sushi appetizer (4nigiri) pcs. Hands down the best nigiris I’ve ever had. Godzilla roll and Combination fried rice are our go to every time. I tried the salmon roll today and it was just perfect. Fresh, rice cooked in perfection. They do a lot of take out but we like to seat to eat and we always get the best service.
I recommend this place 100% and will keep coming back.

We have searched many years for a really good sushi place. This is it! The taste and quality of the sushi is far superior than anything we’ve found. It’s so nice to finally have a go-to place where the service is tops and friendly, the restaurant is pleasing and the sushi is not just good, but really great!

Taiko is our family's go-to sushi place. We usually just order takeouts. This week we finally got the chance to dine in and we were very happy that we did! The lady was super nice. And the food was good as always. Two highlights: Their beef udon was very delicious. The broth was hot and the beef was so tender. I couldn't be happier. Their smoked salmon sushi was spot on. The meat to rice ratio was perfect. Highly recommended!
