First time eating there impression: one step above 7-11. Why did I eat this? Second time: meh. Third time: Better crew. Seemed enthusiastic to be there. Hot dogs cooked out front. Much better food. Recommendations To Management -1. Ditch the popcorn. If we were in a ballpark ok cool, but we're not. Unless there was a hot dog that incorporates popcorn, keep it. Otherwise too many conflicting things. Hot dogs are soft, popcorn is hard, too many texture conflicts. Hotdogs or popcorn. Pick ONE. 2. Aesthetics The backdrop and lighting make HDB appear very sterile. Reminds me of a hospital cafeteria. I think a nice backsplash or warm coat of paint to bring out the menu would be more appealing to the eye and soften the menu lighting. 3. Staff Creations Should be offered to the public as specials of the day. Get creative. The standards are nice but some fluidity to the menu could offer more excitement. Put them on a chalkboard not printed to offer a more personal touch. The foundations are there, the glamour factor and eye appeal need tweaking on the actual physical space. Customers need to feel a connection to the brand to feel encouraged to eat there. But sometimes you just want a hot dog!

Had a good experience with this location. I do food photography and took some pictures of their food. I had an all American hotdog. The hotdog was enormous and delicious. I enjoyed the conversation with Chris, the owner, as well. Staff was courteous and helpful. Go check this place out when in springfield mall shopping for Christmas. Very basic, think 7 11 quality hot dogs and nachos. It's good enough for what it is...
We were at Target last night, bemoaning the fact that they no longer serve hot dogs. Left Target, and what did we see as soon as we left, but the Hot Dog Bar! I had the beef dog w/kraut, onions, and mustard. These are big dogs! And really, really good. The bun was nice and fresh, as were the toppings. Excellent customer service, too. Good job, HDB!

Had the Dirty Dog. It was loaded! Definitely live up to its name! Warning: Dirty hands after! A cleaning lady was walking by, gave me a surprise look and said: is that a hot dog??? It sounded as if she was afraid I will drop it and made a mess (I think)!! LoL! Seriously this place reminded me of a former hot dog bar next to Macy's entrance. "AW dog & root beer" if anyone remembered! It had very authentic chicago dog! That, fries, and lemonade! I was hoping the HDB also has the sport hot peppers too, ala Chicago style. Anyway definitely good and worth the money, although it took quite a while to prep the dog... So come when it's not crowded!

What I find amazing is the lengths businesses in the DMV go to invent food that is fine by itself and then tuning it into something that is not edible. It's a hot dog and not a good hot dog how hard is it to either cook it on a grill like a a Nathan's hotdog or a water dog. This is not good and not going anywhere
