Excellent food and even better service. I live in Texas, but am visiting Norfolk for work and had to try this place. The brisket and chicken were delicious. The sides and sauces were top notch. The owner kept checking on me and offering up several BBQ sauces to try, which I highly recommend the “Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce”.

If you like smoked BBQ (beef, pork and chicken) then this is your place to eat. Freshly smoked meat with your choice of sauces on the side and the homemade salads (macaroni or potatoe) or the mac n cheese is out of this world. Highly recommended!!!

First time trying this place and the 4.8 rating it had was low. It should be a 5. This is the closet place to Texas BBQ that I have found so far. The staff super friendly and helpful. If you haven't tried this place you need too excpecially if you like BBQ.

Great BBQ! I for one, love smoked turkey, and the Taste of Texas is my favorite! The meat is tender & juicy (unlike most places). All the sides were just as amazing! I really liked the collard greens and the savory baked beans. My husband had the piled-high bbq pork, and enjoyed every bite. Plenty of food, we took the remainder of our combo-meals home. Bring your appetite! Reasonably priced too. A great little place, tucked in the shopping plaza. We definitely will return!
The staff was very kind, and all the food we tried was delicious. The chicken was smoked first and then deep-fried, making the outside perfectly crispy—it was unlike any chicken I’ve ever had before, and it was absolutely amazing! The ribs were also the best I’ve ever had!

I'd been wanting to try this establishment for a while and I'm glad my family and I finally did. We ordered the Brisket and Chicken with some sides and delicious fries to go. It Did Not Disappoint! 😊 All was Perfect!😋 From start to finish the gentlemen behind the counter were so Inviting and Welcoming. It was amazing to receive such Help & Care from them, being that it was our first time there. Thank YOU for your Kindness and Heart that was put into all Y'all did to serve Us. It's a rarity to find establishments with such Respect, Kindness and Love like Y'alls. Thank you for bringing A Taste of Texas here cuz I sure do miss from time to time home. I Highly Recommend this Veteran Owned Establishment! ☺️

We came here a few weeks ago and it was good! My favorite thing about this place is the sauce options. There’s any kind of bbq sauce you could think of. I had the loaded fries with the cherry sauce. The pulled pork is pretty good but not the best ever and the fries were just okay. The table was also extremely sticky. However, It is very affordable and the man who I assume was the owner was very helpful and nice. I would definitely recommend checking this place out.
I absolutely love this place! Never had a bad experience and I've eaten my way through most of the menu. I've even gotten holiday brisket and smoked turkey to go. It was a hit at the Christmas party. My only issue is they're not close to me! If it wasn't for my kid's school I'd consider moving closer to them. You can't ask for better food or staff. I gotta get back soon!!!

We are visiting Virginia Beach for the week and found this place after leaving the pool. This place was great! Absolutely relaxing, inviting, and peacefu and the best BBQ i have ever hadl. Tim was the best and very kind to our children and accommodating, switched the TV to cartoons for the kids so they can be entertained and checked in on us regularly and made sure everything was to our liking. They always say that all the little places are the best and this one holds true to that saying so if you want to leave the beach front strip of hectic restaurants and relax with the best BBQ I have honestly had in my life for a great price and amazing service drive 10 min from the beach and enjoy yourself. Highly recommend and if I ever return to VB it will be mainly because of the great food and great service that Tim provided for our family. Thank you to your staff.

Food was AMAZING! My kids are picky eaters and they ate all their food without any issues. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. I’ve had BBQ before but never this tasty! The service was also incredible. We were greeted as soon as we came in and they checked on us multiple times, even offered to play cartoons on the tv for the kids. At the end Tim offered my kids a sweet lollipop. We are from Maryland but will definitely be coming back to this incredible restaurant next time we are in town.
