Orion's Roof Reviews
My husband made reservation for my birthday dinner and pre-baby/mommy-daddy date. The hall entrance, you’ll walk by structural facade with some arts and crepescular lightings.
We were greeted by Noel with kindness and great conversation asking us where we are from, I’m from San Diego and my husband is from NY! Asked us if we have been at Orions before and what brought us to Orion’s etc, which is a good quality for any upscale restaurant manager to build rapport with...read full review
We had high expectations for this restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience fell far below what you’d expect from an establishment that promotes itself as “fine dining.”
Josie, the manager on duty, initially accommodated us by moving us from a small, awkward table that was clearly not suitable for the dinner we planned. We appreciated the change, but things quickly went downhill from there. Midway through our meal, Josie came back and asked if we were almost done...read full review
We requested an outside table, and we sat at a table with a fire pit that did not have any seating to actually eat at. We were moved inside by the manager, only to be rushed out in the middle of our dinner. There were several tables that were open next to us and it completely ruined our experience. We paid a lot of money for an awful experience, and the steak was overcooked and completely disappointing.

Orion's Roof is an upscale restaurant located on the 23rd floor of the Marriott Hotel, offering a romantic ambiance along with stunning beach views, making it an excellent choice for special occasions. The restaurant showcases unique Asian-inspired cuisine, featuring standout dishes like the branzino, Krispy Korean dessert, and sushi, which guests have discovered is a specialty of the restaurant. However, some guests have noted that certain portions may be small. The presentation of the food remains outstanding, complemented by an upscale yet welcoming atmosphere. The beach and ocean views are incredible during the day, providing a lovely setting for lunch, though at night, the ocean appears pitch dark.
The staff is attentive and friendly, with excellent service highlighted by various reviews. Guests have enjoyed dining on the terrace, appreciating the beautiful setting and great service. Specific servers, like Edo and Katie, have been praised for their knowledge and recommendations. However, some recent feedback indicates that while the atmosphere is great, the food quality has varied. For instance, the ORION'S CHICKEN PAD THAI has been described as a little dry, while the COCONUT CURRY CHICKEN SOUP was noted to be spicier than before. The GRILLED CORN ELOTE, which used to be served on the cob, is now offered as a patty with edamame, differing from the traditional preparation that guests loved in past visits.
The location provides a rare vantage point over Virginia Beach, enhanced by fire tables overlooking the boardwalk. Reservations are necessary, as Orion's Roof is worth the time for great food and service, especially during sunset. However, contacting the restaurant for special requests can be challenging at times. Parking is convenient with a 2-hour validation for the hotel garage, making it a memorable choice for celebrations and special dining experiences.
