Oscar's has valet parking ($10) and is right on the boardwalk so the view is fantastic! We made a reservation and were seated next to a window along the boardwalk and had excellent service. We had SheCrab soup (with tons of crab) and Seared Tuna (with pickled cucumbers) for appetizers and the fish of the day which was MahiMahi. Everything was exceptional.

This is going to be a lengthy review because my time spent here for my birthday celebration was ATROCIOUS! Every year for my birthday I choose a new higher end restaurant to celebrate with friends and I’ve never had such a terrible experience as I did here. Let’s start by how rude the manager was ! After we were seated with half the party present I went to order my food and the manager told me he wasn’t going to take my order until the rest of the party got there. I didn’t quite understand that because we only needed half of my party to be there in order to be seated so I’m thinking once I’m seated why would there be an issue to order food? Obviously that’s why I’m there. Mind you my party was of 7…..yes a whole SEVEN People and 4 of us were already there. But whatever their policy was is their policy and I wasn’t going to argue but after I proceeded to tell the manager I was starving and wasn’t feeling well and that I would like to order he proceeded to rudely tell me “I don’t think the rest of your guests would appreciate you ordering without them”. Mind you it’s MY birthday and my friend had to tell this man that they didn’t care if I ordered or not cause it was my birthday and I was free to do what I wanted. That was strike one because we did not get a warm or friendly welcome from the manager at all. Now let’s start on the pitiful service we received. We had to beg the waiter for the bare minimum of just having straws, drink napkins etc. my friend ordered a round of shots while we waited on food and it took us 45 minutes to get the round of shots. When we finally got the shots we ordered another round….that was yet another 30-40 minute wait for shots. The waiter never actually checked in on our table to ask if we needed anything, we literally had to get up and fetch someone to get any type of attention. Mind you we all tried to be empathetic and understanding because they were “understaffed” and outside of my party of 7 there was like a party of 30 of what it looked like a work event but outside of that party and mine, there were people seated at the bar and the rest of the few tables that were there when we arrived had already left so they were not packed out or wall to wall. It was a Tuesday evening in the off-season so even with one large party I don’t see any excuse on waiting almost an hour for SHOTS! My party started at 7 and this establishment closes at 9 so in two hours we received two shots as a whole. That’s beyond ridiculous. Now let’s get on when we were over the neglectful service and we’re ready to leave we had to ask the waiter SEVERAL times to bring our tabs. Guess how long we waited on tabs lol just another 30 minutes SMH it was almost 10 o’clock meaning we were in this place almost an hour after they closed trying to pay tabs that the waiter didn’t seem interested in coming to receive payment. 3 of us ended up paying our tabs while the others still had not even received a tab or was waiting on waiter to pick payment up. One of my friends paid with cash and literally had to remind the waiter that she was still waiting on change that he didn’t bring back over an extensive period of time. Everything took these people at least 30 min to do. It was awful. I’ll never suggest this place to anyone. I can only imagine how it is during peak season of the summer. And oh yea. We were all promised discounts but the only discount that was received was them comping my chicken Alfredo smh.

My steak was wonderful as was the service. However the chocolate “lava” cake was not a chocolate lava cake but a chocolate Bundt cake. I tried to find the lava but only found a small piece of hard chocolate. So if you are wanted a cake that gushes out lava when you crack it open, this is not the place. When ordering them you usually get told there will be a little bit of a wait and it doesn’t immediately come to your table. Otherwise you are just getting served a Bundt cake with chocolate sauce in the middle and a scoop of ice cream on top.

They were out of all draft beers but two. When we asked for one beer the waitress asked if I wanted it on the rocks (that's a first!). When I later asked for an espresso the waitress asked if I wanted it straight (is there another way?).

This evening was our first visit to Oscar's. My husband and I were greeted by a pleasant and professional staff. All of the staff with which we had contact showed genuine interest in our satisfaction and enjoyment. Our booth had a wonderful view of the boardwalk and ocean. Our server, MacKenzie, was calm, knowledgeable, personable, and perfectly paced our dining experience. We had the Oscar Salad and the Beet Salad as appetizers. Our greens were truly fresh without iceberg fillers. The salad ingredients were tasty, but light and uplifted the greens. The dressings were excellent, and did not overwhelm the salads. Our entrees were the Salmon with Tarragon Creme sauce, and Fettucini Alfredo with Filet, and could not have been more perfect! They were well presented, perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and very savoury. I tried a new Shiraz, and found it surprisingly robust, complementing my entree rather well. We finished our meal with delicious vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate sauce. We both highly recommend Oscar's in all facets and are looking forward to our next visit. Wendy&Kevin Tuttle

It was my first time there. The service was slow for not having many customers. I ordered surf and turf. The portion size was really small. It was not a good value for a $46 entree. My wife ordered a best salad and a bisque soup. There were only a few beats and the bisque didn't have much substance. I won't recommend this to anyone.

Stopped by for dinner during restaurant week. Food and service were exceptional. The view beautiful and the restaurants decor was tasteful. Our only complaint was they add a credit card convenience fee of 3.5% of your bill if you're not paying with cash. No one carries cash- fees should be inclusive. This is a resort town and will discourage patrons from returning.

Oscar's is one of the finest restaurants in Virginia Beach! I celebrated my birthday on New Year's Eve, Oscar's did not disappoint! The manager Rick was a detail perfectionist! From hospitality to the food preparation and presentation were impeccable. The best lobster in Virginia Beach!

This restaurant was well reviewed and thoroughly enjoyed by our entire group. I didn't hear a single complaint about the meal except that the chicken was a tad salty. I personally thought it was sliced too thin to reduce costs to make it truly enjoyable. To each their own. The flavor could have used a tad more punch but overall, good. The seared tuna was assembled well and while being a starting dish, it wasn't heavy at all. It boasted a nice mild spice in the end of the dish. The NY cheesecake was good, but not something that is uncommon to find.We enjoyed the wine pairing and presentation as well.

Never Again. I don't even know where to start. 1. The food is basic. Limited sides. Everything is served with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Some dishes which were considered the specials had asparagus and mashed potatoes. 2. Portions are small and the prices are enormous. The price on the menus did not reflect the price we were charged. They apologized and corrected. However, how many people have they overcharged who didn't notice the price discrepancy. They charge 59 bucks for a grocery store ribeye. I would have been better off going to Texas Roadhouse. Better steak in taste and price. The Alfredo had so much garlic it was inedible. 3. They upcharge you 3 percent if you don't pay in cash. Definitely a place to avoid. On a positive note the servers were lovely.

By far and probably forever: best mashed potatoes in the world. Janine and Taylor, along with everyone who took care of us the entire time we were there, thank you for your hospitality. The ambiance was nice, we had a view of the beach. I tried a couple of their port wines, which I found penfolds very pleasing. Their burrata was delicious. We also ordered their specialties that night which was fresh mahi mahi and fillet mignon with lobster. I think what i loved from this restaurant the most is how they engage with their customers + mashed potatoes ??

Food, drinks and service were good but the "special New Year's Eve menu" was limited and excessively overpriced. It may have better value on a "normal day".
