Fried succulent pork chops, sweet plantains, filling yellow rice with beans, and a sample of avocado. This restuarant is an excellent and delicious choice of experiencing a little bit of Puerto Rico. The food is as lively as the atmosphere especially with some hot sauce. An excellent first impression and a highly recommend!

You will not leave here hungry! I ordered a lunch plate of white rice with beans, chicken and green peppers and tostones. The chicken was sort of like a stew and delicious. The tostones were freshly prepared and perfectly salted. I could not finish it. The owner was very nice and brought over a sample of garlicky yucca for me to try. He mentioned he is working on getting his liquor license.

More than recommended. Best Mofongo and pastelon here in Va. If you want puertorican food this is the place to go.

This place reminds me so much of the food I had while in Puerto Rico, very authentic and always hits the spot!

I visited here once before and I was not impressed. However because of a friend praising about this spot. I decided to give it another try. I ordered a pionono empanadilla and it was ok. I truly was not a fan. I ordered chicarrón the pollo and that made up for it. The chicken was cooked to perfection and truly enjoyable. The rice was also pretty good. I also ordered parcha juice and just loved it. It's a small restaurant so not much sitting so make sure you get there to save your seat. There is plenty of parking as it is in a plaza. Only reason I am giving a 3 star is because I ordered white rice and beans and I got gandules. I am not one to return food in new places so I ate what I was served. But the food was pretty good. A must try. When you walk in. You order food at the counter. Food seems to be cooked fresh daily.

I highly recommend this family owned restaurant. The food is authentic and super delicious. The pionono and tripleta pastelillos are simply out of this world. For desert we had the coffee flan (a must). Worth every penny.

I drove by this place and saw the big beach chair at the front with the puerto rican flag. I was excited to find out it was so close home. The next day I made plans with some friends and visited this new spot. The food was very tasty and we all enjoyed it. I ordered a mofongo with carne frita, it was delicious ; however, it was a little greasy for my taste. I will definitely go back and try some other dishes.

Great place to come get my NYC feels. I'm from NYC and I love some Puerto Rican inspired food. Its right up there with Caribbean food for me. I found this place just going to the mall. Its a new place located in the Lynnhaven Mall area. The staff is super friendly here and greeted me as I came in. As soon as I walked in gave me NYC feels. My go to meal is the fried pork chops and rice and beans with a little macaroni salad (mouth is watering as I write this). The pork chops were fried to perfection and the rice was cooked to perfection. The macaroni salad is light and refreshing. They have plenty of deserts and horchata OMG! The place is not to big and you can probably fit a family of four in one booth. Overall I will be coming back to this place to eat and try to new things. They will know me sooner or later.

Muchacho - this was pretty bad man. I had the beef empanadas that were each filled with a half a pound of dry beef no seasoning. The old pulled pork (that was supposed to be pernil) and dry arroz con gandules that had to have been sitting in a warming pot like ALL day. I'm still using the bathroom because of the amount of grease that squeezed out when I bit the empanada. Wow....sorry guys not trying to be rude pero mira that was some rough food.... :(

My family loved the food here! We ordered their pernil, pionono empanada, and chicken mofongo. Everything was so delicious and honestly, I enjoyed a lot more than De Rican Chef (which isn't bad but after trying D'Chinchirreo, I have a new favorite). I believe the owner or manager was there and he was so sweet! My dad loved talking with him and we ended up buying really delicious flan - guava and regular. The owner/manager threw in a coffee one for free :) Will be back again and excited to try their sandwiches next time!

I loved this place. The owners are from my family's hometown so I already knew the food was going to be extraordinary. The amount of food you get for the price was a lot! My husband got the pastelón with arroz con gandules. I got chicken with arroz con habichuelas (white rice and beans), my friend got the pernil (pork) with arroz con habichuela. It was soooo good. The owner even gave us samples of flan. Delicious. The food was so great that my friend bought another plate to take home to her family to try. I am so glad this place is here. I feel like I'm home. Guayama Puerto Rico in the house!!!

Wife and I love Puerto-Rican food so we decided to try this place out for takeout. I wanted to try everything so I just went off from what was popular. Tostones are by far my favorite here, same goes with the sweet plantains. Pulled pork was perfect. Everything was delicious... now when we are craving Puerto-rican food, we officially have our new favorite spot. Coffee flan and Nutella flan didn't make the photos! This was only a little bit over $10 each. Looking forward to the next time we try something new.

Highly recommend this Puerto Rican spot! It's definitely a hidden gem in plain sight! The restaurant is family owned. Everyone was super friendly and gave you a warm welcome! But the food spoke volumes! The owner gave me a sample of the pork and I was sold. It literally just melt in your mouth and was bursting with flavor! You can really tell that the food was made with heart and soul as if he were cooking a family meal, it was delicious! I ended up getting the pork, arroz con gandules (rice and peas) with the plantains and ordered empanadas to go. (Chicken and a beef and cheese) both were amazing! Everything was very fresh and delicious! But it gets better, the owner highly suggested that I try the guava and cheese flan and it did not disappoint! As full as I was from my meal, which I had plenty leftover, I fully stuffed myself with the creamy flan that was the perfect "melt in your mouth" texture. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this place and look forward to my next visit. The staff did wear a mask as well as there is indoor and outdoor seating available. (Sorry I didn't take the best pics, I was too busy eating lol)

Yummy!!!! My best friends are Puerto Rican. I miss the food badly. So during Spring break we came here with them to try it out. Sooo good! Had my favorite arroz con gandules which were on point. Tostones: admittedly a couple were a but tough but I think they had been sitting out too long, but the fresh ones he gave were delicioso). We had chuleta frita which was cooked to perfection, pernil, ugh I can still taste it, and this one that I had never had: platano cooked with cheese and ground beef. OMG. No clue the name but game changer! Her little daughter had it and ate some but didn't finish it so I tried and I ended up taking the rest home for the next day. A small little restaurant on the strip mall across from Lynnhaven. Will be back for sure!!!
