I was in the area and stopped in for a cocktail after shopping one afternoon (Saturday). Amanda greeted me warmly with a firm handshake and got my drink right away. There were only a few others in the bar, so there was no wait. The TVs were full of soccer games, so I spent some time perusing the different games and caught up on the English Premier League standings. Their TV organization is challenging but they made sure to maximize the games for the few viewers. Then came the She Crab Soup. This has been one of my favorite foods since living in Florida years ago, and I have tried it in over 75 restaurants. VA Beach is absolutely incredible when it comes to seafood, so I indulge as often as I can. There are apparently two major varieties of She Crab Soup - one being sherry/truffle flavored, and the other being more meaty and a bit more savory. The Quixx chef, Vanessa, was awarded 3rd prize (I believe) in a local competition, and it showed in her version. There was a load of crab meat in this soup, and the flavor was simply great crab with the hint of standard seasonings without the sherry/truffle flavor. The meatiness put it right over the top. I love both versions, but this is as good as I have had locally in VA Beach. And the price was nowhere near what you would expect to pay. The value is exceptional. They should sponsor an EPL soccer team (maybe Leicester City) and offer She Crab Soup during their games...make it a thing.

We were weary travelers stopping by Scotty's in hope of a more chill vibe with some good food, and Scottys delivered! Our bartender, Sergio, was so friendly and fun! We got some inside knowledge about the town as we are from Oregon. The drinks were perfect and the food was top notch! I would have expected to pay a lot more for the quality of food and service we received at literally any of the surrounding places. We will visit Palo Alto again if only to go back to Scotty's as a new tradition! Thank you, Sergio, for making our anniversary dinner a great one! Someone give him a raise!

Uncommonly bad service, rude staff, long wait for drinks. They’ve really gone downhill! I Went in , waited for 10 minutes before I was even acknowledged. The waitress asked if she could get me anything, no greeting , no hello. I asked for a Mich Ultra... 10 min later it arrived but apparently she was too busy to take the time to bring the menu, let alone mention specials... After she finished her lengthy conversation with employees, and noticed several customers looking for her (one lady actually had to flag her down) I finally got a menu but she walked away before I could even finish my order for a burger, which was really bland... after that I paid and walked out...Oh well, Va Beach is full of other great places right?

Well how do I describe this place? If I lived nearby, I would totally hang as a locals bar. Clearly tucked away and word of mouth. Nice outside deck and kitchen area but inside seating is very tight. Cool wall decor and such but tight. Food? We tried the Friday fish tacos (rockfish) and fish and chips. My wife’s tacos were “ok” but for 5 bucks, you really can’t complain and got the job done. My fish and chips? Well after 2 tries of burning them, they came out hot and did have good taste. Once again for the price, it is what it is. Beer selection is awesome and good happy hour prices for several options. Unfortunately the AC wasn’t really working and didn’t stay long but enough to get a feel. All in all, it’s a feel of a local neighborhood spot with good prices, unique vibe, decent food but not necessarily a spot for dates or a “night out”.....at least for us but it was cool to try.
