Our first experience was excellent! Eddie is an artist!!! Clearly passionate about making sushi…. You can taste the love for sure! Lexi was very helpful pleasant and attentive! I mean what have I mentioned that would make you want to stay away? The 111 roll was fabulous and the vegetable pot stickers were also awabi yummy😋 We highly recommend trying them out when you are in Old Town Winchester, VA❣️Our second visit we had the Gold Coast roll and beef pot stickers…so...
This was a very lovely place to dine. Service was quite nice too. The sushi however, though good, was not good enough to justify the high prices. Price per roll is much higher than most sushi restaurants. I paid over $30 for what tea, one roll, two nigiri and a miso soup.
Imagine our surprise when we realized Awabi Umi had hired the best sushi chef in Winchester, Edgar, who we first met 10 years ago! He is passionate about the art of sushi and takes such pride in his craft. The sushi here is on a whole other level. You’ll realize it when you taste the authentically prepared sushi rice! We sampled 4 rolls - the Chesapeake was overflowing with real crab meat! And the donkatsu was fried to perfection. They even have a kids menu. We will be back!
