Overall my friends and I had a great time. The cocktails were very good. Our waiter Brandon was awesome, so attentive and lovely. Most of us got the crab cake special of the day and we appreciated the ratio of crab to breading. The asparagus was delicious, but the rice was suuuper bland, like no flavor AT ALL, so that was a bummer. Regardless though, would happily return! The positive dining experience outweighed that one underwhelming portion of the meal.
Shrimp & creamy cheddar grits were delicious. The Gentleman's Greeting appetizer was only average. The banana pudding was a little below average. The red velvet cake was delicious. Overall a memorable meal and dining experience.
Let me explain why this was a 4 instead of a 5.
The food was good, and for most people it would probably be great. But every dish seemed to be missing one thing that would have taken it to the next level.
The split pea soup came out brown and was way too meat-forward. The ham should be subtle. The peas, their flavor, and that bright green color should be the star of the dish, not the meat.
