If you want fish and chips this is your place. Great fried fish , chips are wonderful. Burgers are available for your non-seafood eating friends. Small eating area but I have always found seating.
We have eaten here multiple times. Fish and chips. Always cooked to order. Battered perfectly. Love the pickled beets as a side dish!
I've had alot of fish and chips over the years. Lil' Britain was hands down the best! Fish was fresh, batter was light and crispy and not too salty. Sides were simple and delicious. You can tell they take pride in their product. Truly a hidden gem! We'll be back!
No frills - fish and chips. Everything was fantastic. I’m glad I finally discovered this little spot! Surprisingly, the place was largely empty when I stopped.
Love this fish and chips place every time I’m in the area. I gotta stop amazing flaky fried fish and their homemade chips a.k.a. fries are so good taste just like what my mama used to make. They also have very cool decor. They have like a little British phone booth with a bunch of little British theme decorations on the walls. It’s a very cute place. Highly recommend.
Best fish and chips on this side of the pond !
Excellent haddock, chips, and real mushy peas! Super happy to find this place and I was really impressed with the dinner. It's hard to find authentic Brit f&c in the US and this is one of the best I've had!
Good food. Little greasy but I think that was to be expected! Quaint restaurant in the heart of downtown Bennington
We discovered this gem on Facebook. We drove over an hour to try Lil Britain. Well worth the trip! We absolutely enjoyed the fish and chips with a side of coleslaw. Everything was cooked to perfection...delicious! It's a tiny restaurant with a few tables. I believe they are a husband and wife who own it and they were both extremely pleasant and customer friendly. Sure do wish it was closer, but we will definitely return.
Good chip shop. Does everything a chip shop should.

Great little place to get fast food that's fresh and good.
First time here. We were on our way from Syracuse to Londonderry and needed to stop. Everyone in our group found something they enjoyed. Great value!
I had my first chip butty here, and let me tell you—fries in a sandwich shouldn’t work as well as it does, but somehow, it does. The whole place feels like a little slice of the UK tucked away in Bennington, Vermont. It’s an authentic English fish and chip shop, complete with proper fish and chips, meat pies, and that classic takeout-style charm.
As far as fish and chips go, you’d be hard-pressed to find better this far inland (and that’s coming from a Mainer). The fish is crisp, golden, and flaky, the fries are exactly as they should be, and the prices are decent. Nothing fancy, nothing overdone—just good, honest comfort food. If you find yourself downtown near the center of Bennington, it’s worth stopping in.
First time here! We made the trip from NY specifically for this place. Food was amazing! Best fish and chips I have ever had. The woman who took care of us was amazing, we got sausage rolls and pies to go and she wrote down instructions on how to cook them from frozen. Super nice and helpful! We will be back!
My parents — who are British — love the place. Been to quite a few Chippies in the UK and these folks do a real nice job of putting out authentic fish and chips.
