Food was delicious. The pork chop was so good. Seating at the bar was comfortable too.

I’m so glad I reserved a table here. Visiting from Boston, I booked weeks in advance and still had a hard time getting a spot. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was amazing, and most importantly, the food was outstanding. The prices are a little high, the quality made it completely worth it. I’d absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Horrible service, staff kept us waiting with tables open. Would not recommend
Great place. Romantic atmosphere. Price wise... A bit on the expensive side. Pasta was a bit plain. Steak was a bit small and no side dishes included.
Service was great. Thanks to Chris. Good knowledge on wine and local cheese.

Booked the butcher room for a group of six guys coming from Boston and loved it. The room was sectioned off so it was nice and private and we could be as obnoxious as we please (surprisingly we were civilized). The food from beginning to end was great. We even ordered extra rolls cause they were that good. Our waiter was knowledgeable and had great recommendations for drink pairings. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
I was very excited to finally get a reservation at Hen of the Wood and was disappointed. It was loud and dark, made it difficult to have a conversation at a small 4 person table. The food was good, but the portion sizes were small. We spent >$350 for 4 people and ended up going to get pizza after because we were all still hungry.
The wine selection was good and our waiter was excellent.
Maybe it would have been better on a weekday night and if we had eaten a little before going. We showed up very hungry and didn’t leave full.

Welcomed some out-of-town guests to a night out. Hen of Woods was a highlight. The cool vibe, our server, Jillian, and most of all every morsel of unique and creatively prepared food was superb! The small plates were out of this world and we appreciated the ability to share such delicacies.

My ride was late so I arrived at 5:03 pm and asked to get the oyster special they offer between 4-5 pm. They refused, saying I was 3 minutes late, both the woman at the front desk and the bartender. I explained that I had been a customer for over 10 years at both locations,( and Prohibition Pig and their new pasta bar in the old mill)- in fact I had been to several of their wine dinners and stuck with them through the floods and everything else they have experienced. And was happy to support them. Thought they were unreasonable on the oysters for what would have been an easy accommodation. I left and won’t be back.

Hen of the Wood is a great spot to celebrate your birthday, anniversary, or just for a good time. I have gone a handful of times now and it’s always great service and amazing food. I went for my birthday and they even left me a Happy Birthday Card! Their appetizers are on the smaller size but are all top quality. I also love how their menu changes. I’d highly recommend this place if you are visiting Burlington.
Also, they have oyster hour from 4pm-5pm every day!

We came to celebrate being newly wed, and from the moment we walked in, the team made us feel like royalty. The management went above and beyond with a surprise toast of wine, a sweet handwritten card that said “congratulations,” and even a complimentary dessert that was as thoughtful as it was delicious. Such a personal touch, we were honestly blown away.
Every bite of the food was unforgettable. We had everything from a few small plates to desserts. The chef clearly knows what they’re doing because the flavors were rich, fresh, and just perfectly balanced. I’m back home now and I swear, I can still taste it. That’s how good it was.
This place has officially earned a special spot in our hearts. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Vermont. Thank you, Head of the Wood, for making our celebration feel truly magical.

We visited from Montreal, and this place was nothing short of amazing. By chance, we snagged a spot at the chef’s table as walk-ins. Every dish was incredibly fresh and had the quality and presentation of a Michelin-star restaurant.

After experiencing some outstanding eats and service in Burlington all week, this place was disappointing. We had stopped the day prior for oysters and cocktails. Both outstanding and had us excited about our dinner reservation.
Service was initially prompt and we soon had drinks in had and our order placed. Then it was like the server lost interest in our table. I finished my drink, it was cleared by another server and wasn't asked about another for another 15 minutes. It was then another 20 before the next arrived.
Appetizers were ok, nothing to write home about. We ordered Cod and steak medium rare for our main dishes. Steak came rare and both lacked flavor. At this point we decided to cut our losses and avoid dessert.
This was a hard follow up to the outstanding food and service we received all week.
