I am a loyal customer for years.. Can't believe your coming to Charlotte.. I live in vergennes and create errands just to get your special Sammy... Will spread the word.. Can't wait.. You are quality ....

I have been going to RO since 1996 and am finally fed up with the ever decreasing value, the total lack of customer service, and the astronomical prices.Over the years they have gone from using quality ingredients (THICK cut bacon, smoked gouda, etc) to using the cheapest and most commonplace replacements. While I may have been willing to pay for the good stuff, it has become harder and harder to justify. Especially with the terrible service.Vacant eyed college drones who either do not listen to, or more likely care, about your order, and who cannot manage to find you to bring you your order even though you are no more than 10 feet from the door in one of the restaurant's chairs. They have no commitment to doing a good or even adequate job.If you feel like you've waited too long, do not hesitate to check in with them. Chances are good your food is withering away on the counter because the "wait staff" couldn't work out how to get it to you outside. No joke.Furthermore, the management (if it can really be called that) is extremely irresponsible about food safety during the pandemic and utterly unconcerned with customer experience. They would rather tell you not to come to their restaurant than to try to make it a place worth going. If you cannot properly wear gloves and your mask when handling food (especially the food that isn't cooked) maybe you need to get out of the business? (Example: masks should cover your nose and mouth at all times when you are breathing over food prep areas. Seems obvious, but not to the manager!)Bottom line? The food isn't worth the exorbitant price, and if the prices don't scare you off, the terrible service and useless management should.

Honestly most of the staff here is wonderful. The bread is delicious and the sandwiches are generous to say the least. I highly recommend Red Onion for take out, or to eat on the outdoor tables out front.

They assume you want what they want to make your sandwich into vs what you order.

This was my favorite sandwich shop back in college. Grab napkins, these sandwiches are big and messy.

This café and deli is the best I’ve ever found in all the places I have been. Everything is housemaid, from the homemade bread to the soups and desserts. I am a frequent visitor, and have never been disappointed.

The atmosphere is inviting and you can watch them make you a great sandwich or serve up a good bowl of soup. Great for take-outs of to sit down and enjoy your meal.

Great food but shop owner was very aggressive and rude to her staff. It was uncomfortable.
Great spot - hefty sandwiches on house made bread. What more could you want from a local sandwich shop?
Spence Lean
Corned Beef on Sour Dough
Violetta A.
Mediocre food, poor customer service.
Jacob Dorsey
Great service, better food!

Our visit to Red Onion almost ruined what was a nice day trip to Burlington. I am still disgusted by my visit here. I had to just leave halfway through my meal leaving most of my food on the plate. The place seemed ok at first when I walked in. We ordered sandwiches (the vegetarian sandwich seemed ok). After we ordered I notice the pile of dirty dishes on the floor by the seating area, what's up with that? Also some patrons walked in with two dogs that were not service dogs and ended up sitting next to us. I love animals but regular dogs don't belong in restaurant ! I left, never again. Also the manager has a sour face.
